Restaurant del Llac

We have been coming here for over 25 years and although it has always been good, the restaurant now seems to having a golden era. The menu is partly traditional Catalan/Spanish and partly more modern and experimental, both on the a la carte and the menu del dia (we have not tried the buffet recently). The rice dishes, the steaks and the meat cooked a la brasa are all delicious. Wild boar, when available, is very special. Some of the starters are especially original. Portions are generous. The wine list has extensive coverage of Catalan wines and the service is efficient, polite and friendly with a touch of formality. Best of all is the view from the picture windows across the lake to the mountains beyond. Just beware that in spite of the air conditioning the window seats can be a little warm on a hot day

Casa Merce

This wonderful restaurant is hiding in a small village and worth several visits. The cuisine of this place is representative of the region, with best ingredients from closest regions and notorious love on the preparation and presentation. Since this restaurant appeared in the television and won a small contest, it's getting more and more visitors, so booking os highly recommended. It's also remarkable that the menu is seasonally, meaning it's different from season to season. In my opinion is one of the best restaurants in the region, and many would regret not to visit and experience Casa Merce cuisine.Although is not cheap, ingredients have excellent quality and price/value is really fair.Salut i visca Catalunya!

Restaurante Port d'Ager

The restaurant was not even full but having only one waiter for all tables was a shame. The waiter was all time complaining. Not paying attention to customers. On the other hand the food is below average. Only the desert have decent quality. Not the main dishes. Relation quality/price: Really Poor.Skip the restaurant. Even if it is the only available.

Bar Lo Torres

A nice bar situated on the main road that passes Àger. Main dishes (Sandwiches and burgers) cost around €5 and a selection of tapas is also available. The Catalan menu is also in Spanish and English. There is plenty of seating outside and inside. The bar can be busy as it is situated near the local campsite. The staff were friendly but service was a little slow, however it was very busy on the day we visited.

Cal Maciarol

We booked there at 8pm before going to Parc Astronòmic del Montsec. Service was excellent, we even got a change in the menu without having extra charge. We got all touristic information we needed. It was a quiet place, with too much light and temperature, but it wasn't so important. It's around 17 euros per menu, taking into account its location it can't be cosidered as an expensive place. This opinion is submitted in English because we're not allowed to write in Catalan in Tripadvisor.

Restaurant Casa Xalets

Reviewed By botond22

First of all, the waiter was really rude. Since we didn't speak Catalan, and there was no Spanish (or English) menu, we had to ask questions about a few menu options we weren't sure about, and received curt and uninterested responses, as if it were unusual to want to know more about the food we will be served. The main course was a disaster. The meat was not fresh, was overcooked, dry, and lacked all flavor. The same applies to the french fries and grilled vegetables. When we mentioned this to the waiter, and then to the owner (or manager), we were given impolite looks, as if to say 'this is how we cook here, there is nothing we can do'.
