Missed the motorway turning and got lost in Chiusi trying to get home... we were very hungry so pulled in here... attracted (like moths) to the lighting and smart frontage. Appearances can often be deceptive but not this time. A warm welcome from owner Clemente (Italian and fluent in English/American!) and his American wife. They took over the place about a year ago and have a 10-bedroom B&B in the same building. All very smart, clean and typicall Tuscan (but thankfully not cluttered like too many other abodes!)We are in the midst of the madness of the Duckun Diet so no carbs (pasta, bread, rice all off the menu for us) and little oil... But nothing was too much of a hassle for the kitchen. We settled for two fab steaks on the grill (mouthwatering) and grilled vegetables, salad and other nibbles. All excellent. The coffees were a gift from him ("For suffering so much on the diet...") and we vowed to return when the full menu will be at our disposal.I can report the other tables had lots of locals and even doctors â always a good sign if the doctors eat at a restaurant. They are always rich in Italy and can dine anywhere but choose the best establishments) . Others were being served wonderful pastas, homemade pastries and desserts â and choosing from a great wine list. Next time, next time...

Ristorante Sulla Sponda Toscana Del Lago Di Chiusi, A Circa 4 Km Da Chiusi Centro
We dined here with a group of eight and everyone seemed satisfied. The restaurant is located on the south shore of Lago Chiusi, not far from the Etruscan tomb region. Fish, pasta, pizza and all the usual were on the menu. Food was reasonably priced and tasty. Free WIFI. I would go again when in the area.

"La Taverna del Patriarca": La Taverna del Patriarca is a typical Tuscan osteria carved in the ancient cellars of the villa with the intention of promoting the renowned regional specialties. Its uniqueness is a brazier to view where we are cooking dishes
we wanted a bistecca fiorentina - the famous local T bone steak - on charcoil medium grilled and we got it there! You pay by weight and we paid 60⬠for the steak. You can order some side dishes ( veggs and potatoes) Staff was friendly and quick.Easy to park (free) on the premises ( slight slope) - next to the hotel villa il patriarca. We would appreciate more comfy seats as the iron terrace seats are too hard to sit on a entire eve...Thanks for this good review and for the helpful directions you have written.Attention and research of the matter is for us a must, we guarantee our customers always top quality products!Best regards

Had wonderful lunch here with family. Very authentic osteria with great selection of Tuscan favorites. The pizza looked good but we opted for pasta and secondi. The ravioli with butter and sage was outstanding, as was the pasta with sugo cinghiale. We enjoyed the sausage and beans as well as the rabbit - both excellent. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Itâs s cozy place and great for a long relaxing meal.

Impressive wine selection. Very slow service. Most of the food we ordered they would come back and say they didnât have. That was rather disappointing. The food was all so salty. So much salt. The tiramisu was just cream and cocoa...no cake. One of the waiters, an older gentleman was very nice. Difficult to enjoy dinner as the kids at the table next to us were running around, screaming, climbing on things. The staff did nothing about it. I understand kids are kids, we had two with us and they didnât act like that. If youâre looking for somewhere to relax, this place will work. Food is edible, just salty.

Osteria la solita zuppa
This restaurant, in the old town of Chiusi, is quite special. Italian food is extremely traditional, and what distinguishes good restaurants from bad, according to the Italian thinking, is the quality and freshness of the ingredients rather than originality. La Solita Zuppa, however, manages to serve really good traditional dishes while at the same time coming up with some fabulous variations on traditional themes. (It is very much a slow food restaurant.) The pici with a goose ragu (a special) was extraordinarily good, one of the best rich meaty pasta sauces I have had. The maiale (pork) slow cooked in chestnut honey was out of this world. The roast beef, though more traditional, had a melt-in-the mouth tenderness. And the three icecream balls was up there with the best desserts ever. It sounds banal, but is like nothing what you will ever find in a gelateria: it involved mascarpone and yoghurt, chestnut honey and saffron, and I forget the third. The subtlety and distinctiveness of the flavours was as good as it gets. Soups are their speciality (as the name indicates) but we didnât try them as it was not really the season. All these dishes would do a multi-starred Michelin restaurant proud. The house wine was very good as well (a good test). Judging from the wines ordered by the next table, the wine list ooks pretty good too. The presentation was a little more formal than the usual trattoria â linen, nice glasses, etc. â which made it good for an occasion. There was a mix of discriminating tourists and locals. The affable and very likeable owner and head chef will explain all the dishes, in English if required, and it is worth taking his advice as there are often specials not on the menu. Value was extraordinarily good â right at the low end of standard trattoria prices, yet the food quality was top of the range. Definitely a stop on a culinary tour of Italy.Chiusi vecchio is quite a pretty town, not much visited: the 1930s archaeological museum, devoted to Etruscan antiquities, is interesting, as is the church opposite.

This original interior designed restaurant opened in 2012 with a beautiful view right in front of lake Trasimeno . Specialties are local dishes with lake fish and meat courses. Local wines and even a local beer can be tasted out on the portico. Four langu
This is a great restaurant below the old town, next to Lake Trasimeno. Very good service, imaginative menu with many home-made dishes not found elsewhere. Excellent starters, delicious home-made pasta and crispy pizzas. We started with a fish and a vegetarian antipasto - the vegetarian plate included grilled vegetables, quiche, several different crostini, lasagne and salad - all very tasty. Followed by home-made ravioli and pizzas. Too full for dessert. Very reasonably priced. Only negative was that it was a special night in Castiglione "Notte Bianco" so towards the end of the meal the place was full and they didn't seem to have quite enough waiting staff to cope.
