When completed in 1950, Rose Seidler House was ‘the most talked about house in Sydney’. Today, still surrounded by bushland with panoramic views of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, the house is one of the finest examples of mid 20th-century modern domestic architecture in Australia. Open Sundays only, we encourage visitors to explore the house on their own, with our friendly guides on hand to provide information or help if needed. Please note that due to the fragility of the interior, you will be asked to remove your shoes when entering the house so remember to wear your best socks!

After a delicious lunchtime feed of fish and chips at Brooklyn recently, we walked passed the Hawkesbury River Train Station down to McKell Park. This park is nicely positioned by the river and the Brooklyn Baths (an enclosure in the river for public swimming). We followed the path by the river to Flat Rock Point and around to Parsley Bay on the other side of the hilly point, this is an easy short picturesque walk. There are picnic shelter sheds, a children playground and a collection of historical photographs to peruse in the park. Car parking in the area can be difficult on weekends as Brooklyn is a popular location.

If you're not up for a long walk, like all the way from Cowan to Brooklyn, the short track from Cowan station to Jerusalem Bay is great. The only other access to Jerusalem Bay is by boat, so you might get it all to yourself. It's steep but less than 2 hours return. There's some decent food in Cowan.

Am amazed how little ones are still attracted to the water and the adults enjoy meeting around the unique sculpture.
