We were excited about being so close to the Sea of Japan. We imagined plenty of sea food and average or decent prices. And way better compared to Tokyo or other cities. But Daikou was an eye opener. We ordered small plates like we do everywhere we can. Here the bowls are full of rice with just a sliver of fish. My monk fish was nothing but bone. The octopus was only four small pieces. And all not so good at all. We had two-four times the amount of food in many places. And Daikou is a very modest place there is no reason for these food or portions. It should offer better food and more of it.
Specialty coffee, vin nature, local seafood, local vegetable, tajima beef steak, beaked sweets,We are going to give you special day OFF.
This is a GREAT place. We were recommended this by our ryokan and I am so glad they did. We were in Kinosaki with two young kids who needed to have 'western' food once a day as they got used to the Japanese cuisine. 'Off' was a great find for this and would compete against the best of its kind in Italy or Europe. Really tasty fresh healthy food and fantastic service. Fantastic coffee. My part-Italian wife does not suffer bad coffee and the coffee here met her expectations. Really good and the Bakewell tart that we had with it was to die for. We had lunch there twice and devoured it all. Great pasta. Yummy open sandwiches. Great salads. We have two very energetic kids who love their food but tend to try to redecorate any restaurant with their food. The staff were sympathetic and friendly and took this all in their stride. We loved the interior design. It's a great space. Stylish. Smart. Not pretentious. It is worth making the effort to find it, it's tucked away behind the main drag in Kinosaki. This is a new place and I hope it does really well. It deserves to. We would recommend it to anyone visiting. PS. It is a really kid friendly place during the day but after 6pm its adults only.Dear Oliver,Thank you for coming last time.We are so glad that you enjoyed "Off" time. All your words about coffee, foods, and even interiors cheer us up as we really focus on these since opening.Since your experience, we have decided surving for kids menu during summer time. Thanks for the warm inspiration. Our "Off" door is always open for coming back, see you again next time :)PS. We are going to go to London next spring.

We were attracted by the big crab model hanging above the signboard and the food photos outside. But once we were inside, we were lost as everything was in Japanese, and moreover we felt ignored by the restaurant staff. There was a ticket vending machine and everything was in Japanese. As we were scrambling without any help, we spent about 10 minutes trying to figure out what and how to order, until we realised we could match the photos of the food on the wall to either the Japanese words or the nos. on the ticket vending machine. Once we managed to get our tickets, the food was very fresh and tasty and the staff seemed also nice to us. In the salmon-salmon roe don, the amount of salmon and roe provided were generous, and the taste was really good. The crab claw don was also good, and we enjoyed having the experience of having live abalone cooked over a fire on our table. At the end of our meal, we had no regrets spending those 10 minutes figuring out how and what to order, and as our first meal in Kinosakionsen, it was really nice.

Orizuru in Kinosaki onsen adds to an already delightful tourist location that does not rely solely on the 7 public baths, but also a fabulous sushi restaurant! The chef owner and his son run a relaxed but meticulously organised ship, and the fish is divinely fresh. We ordered a selection of sashimi, 2 signature platters of sushi, a side dish of tempura, and then followed the gregarious locals in ordering a dish of flamed oysters with a squirt of lemon. The quality of all the local fish was excellent and the knife skills of the chef top class, we were also treated to the local tajima beef nigiri which melted in the mouth as expected. To be honest if we had time i would have spent the day there and we were treated like regulars from the beginning, i could not recommend it more highly.

We waited for about 20 minutes in the waiting list. It was completely worth it. Super fresh seafood, everyhing we tried was delicious. It was crab season, and it was outstanding. Prices are not cheap but are fair. Even the cheapest sake was delicious. Highly recommended
