KettleFish is a casual, counter-served seafood restaurant showcasing responsibly-sourced seafood cooked to order in our unique steam-powered kettles, as well as Northwest-style fish & chips all accompanied by select local craft brews and wines.
This is a new restaurant on Byron St. just east of Silverdale Way. Itâs in a compact but attractive new building with two dining booths, three patio tables and a small eating counter. You order at the main counter, and a waitress brings your meal to you. You get plastic utensils except for metal soup spoons.The concept and menu are impressive, with pan roasts, bouillabaisse, cioppino, chowder, steamed clams, steamed mussels, fish and chips and some other dishes available. Based on one meal, I thought the food was average and didnât measure up to the restaurantâs admirable concept.Pan roast ($16) comes in a large bowl with the creamy soup containing several pieces of shrimp, oyster and fish cubes. Unfortunately, the soup has a weak flavor and tastes more of cream than seafood.Cioppino ($18) also comes in a large bowl. It consists of a thin tomato-celery broth mixed with finely chopped tomato and celery bits. A generous portion of shrimp, mussels and clams is piled on top and scattered throughout the broth. The seafood pieces are tasty. However, the dish as a whole lacks the flavor of either Italian cuisine or of seafood.

We like the adult waterfront setting of the Bistro and view. A full wet bar included. We ordered a seafood linguine and a blackened salmon. First time I ever tried salmon wet blackened covered with salsa instead of dry seared. Interesting taste. The sour dough bread and peach cobbler was very good. Recommend.

Biscuits were good and the server made sure we did not run out. Husband ordered dragon shrimp. Seemed like they reheated previously cooked shrimp. The sauce was skimpy, dried out & the red Chile's and onions nonexistent. My Alaskan white fish/fish and chips also appeared to be reheated. Since we were inside and seated by 11:30a, this was distressing. Was it left over from last night? My sister had salmon salad. Seemed OK. I liked the croutons. Fries good. Slaw OK. Someone needs to teach them how to prepare tartar sauce. Wished I had started with dessert. Then stopped there.

Had a fabulous meal last night at YCB! Had the halibut special- fish cooked perfectly! Side asparagus cooked perfectly! Yummy rice. Nice big glass of wine! Others had fish tacos and a burger-all great! My granddaughter thinks the chicken strips are the best!lol! Our server, Mindi, was great- we were waaaaaaay in the back booth-but she was on top of everything! Great evening!
