Ate here twice whilst on vacation and recommend this restaurant. It is on a quiet street and has lovely outdoor seating. Very relaxed atmosphere and easy to have conversations without shouting! The menu is extensive and all food is fresh and subtly flavored - flavoring does not overpower the taste of the FRESH seafood

I've been to this place a couple times every time that I have went it has been a wonderful experience. Their food is always top notch. Also they make their own beer in house which is absolutely fantastic I might add. Service is very good also and they also have a place for children to play.

The Salamandra is a small, cosy Spanish restaurant right off one of the main streets, Sao José, near a shopping center. No street parking though. About 20 indoor tables and 10 or so smaller ones on the patio. Andalusian decor with many paintings and artifacts, and salamanders of course all over the walls. We didn't like the bullfighting scenes much but everything else was very authentic. We dropped in on the spur of the moment for lunch without reservations and were quickly shown to a table for two. We ordered a paella on a pasta base, not rice. Plenty for two people, including four large whole shrimps, half a dozen medium size shrimp tails, plenty of mussels, some with shells, and some fish pieces, served in a hot metal dish. We had a glass of house Tempranillo which went down well. The restaurant filled up quickly and became noisy but tolerable. Some background music. The highlight was a half suckling pig dish served at a nearby table. The chef Hugo came out and 'cut' the pig into portions with a plate held edge on, which he then threw onto the floor near the bar, shattering it, with shards flying all over the place. Quite a surprise. Our waiter was extremely attentive and served us well, as did the chef's wife. Paid about USD50 with a credit card at the bar after a fine meal.

Brilliant venue with really good food. Huge portions and very reasonable priced. Waiters struggled a bit with large volume of people in the group but did their very best. Owner is the only English speaker but we got by with google translate. Huge play area for children. Tables are technically outdoors but have good fans to remain cool.

i was told that this is the best Japanese in Ribeirao Preto. well, if so, there aren't good Japanese restaurants in this city...the service was slow and indifferent, most of the dishes, dull and the worst... they served sashimi from frozen (and still frozen!!...) fish...disaster!tudo bem?Agradecemos sua avaliação em relação à nossa casa.Esse feedback nos norteia onde acertamos e erramos em nosso serviço.Grata!

The salmon was perfect and the risotto complemented it wonderfully. Mathias served us and his enthusiasm and attention was just right. This place is worth a visit

Great atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a days work. You should definitely try the caipicoco (caipirinha made with coconut milk served in a coconut bowl). Staff was friendly and efficient.
