I love how they have renovated the old train station building into a creative and inspiring place to meet people. The café serves healthy dishes (i.e. vegan and vegetarian!) aswell as sweets. The service is one of a kind! Its a must visit if you are in Kalmar!

After days of Pasta and Kottbullar on the boat we arrived in Sandviks Hamn. The reception, was very friendly, the service very good. We were offered a complimentary bottle of normal water and some bread. We had turbot with beetroot and capers, myself, I had the entrecôte with potato wedges and a delicious beure cafe de Paris. As desert, like spoiled children, we had an ice-cream cone and coffees. What a pleasant experience !

We went for the buffet and we did not regret. Good variety, fresh and with quite good beer included in the price.Sitting outside in the warm Swedish summer weather was a good choice: it was quite warm inside. The place is next to the square and strangely they allow cars to drive by 1 meter from the outside seating.

Norrings Creperie

There is quite a nice inner yard with an outdoor seating area in addition to the indoor area, which has some old-fashioned country-style decorations. You order and pay at the counter and the staff bring the galettes and crêpes to your table. The different ciders, beer and wine that are served can be seen on the shelves by the counter. We asked about the difference in flavour of the ciders and the staff told us about the different ones they had. We ordered one “Bettan” galette, which contained Emmental cheese, chèvre, honey, walnuts and beets, and one “Mysiga kon” galette, which contained Emmental cheese, roast beef, potatoes, tarragon cream and tomatoes with balsamico. Both were very tasty with a good combination of flavours. They were also quite large and filling, so we hesitated whether or not to have dessert but as the crêpes looked so tempting we couldn’t resist one to share. We had the “Nyttiga bananen” crêpe with banana, hazelnut spread, ice-cream and chocolate sauce, and it was also very tasty.
