Restaurants in Ko Jum
We were lucky enough to find this little jewel in the local fishermen village of Mutu. Sao and Lak are the loveliest most welcoming couple and most important, they know how to get it right! Lak fishes and farms himself the best and freshest the sea can offer which gets translated into delicious creations on the plate at a great value. A lesser known diamond in Koh Jum only because it has been opened just for a few months but we wish them the very best for the future because they deserve it. Highly recommended!
We also saw the reviews raving about this place & having eaten there before a couple of years ago we decided to give it a go. It wasn't particularly busy & we chose to sit inside, ordered a beer, chose our food & waited, and waited...We got the attention of the Thai man who served our drinks & he indicated to the English man stood outside chatting to another guest. He didn't actually bother to get his attention, so we tried, and failed. The man eventually came in to the restaurant, looked over, then went about adding up other bills. If he was so busy surely a "be with you in a minute" & a smile would be the way to treat a customer. This place makes a big deal about being western run, great service etc yet we were ignored. The food is very expensive compared to every other place so we must assume they are charging for this fantastic friendly service so where was it? Needless to say we left, & ate at our resort. When we spoke to some of the regulars who come every year they weren't surprised & made some very negative comments that I won't mention here as they aren't mine so that would be unfair. Shame, I really fancied the sausage & mash!
Went here on the recommendation of our taxi driver. This restaurant is on the east side of Koh Jum/Poh island in one of the small Muslim fishing villages. First of all, it isn't much to look at. The restaurant is over the water. They actually rent out bamboo cubicles to backpackers for about $6/night. We were the only customers on a Monday night. We ordered seafood, lot's of it, from the fish tanks they have. Squid, Blue Crabs, Shrimp Curry, Crab Curry, Prawns and Oriental flathead lobsters (bizarre looking little guys but very tasty!), a big fish (not sure what kind) and some stir fried veggies (along with rice and coconut drinks). Well seasoned, simple and delicious. Then came the real shock. The bill. Sorry to say that for the 4 of us it came to $57US. We thought it was a mistake (this food would be 3-4 times that price in US). They said no, that is our price. 'We don't charge for the seafood because we didn't pay for it either. We just charge for our labor, expenses and spices to make it.' Wow. Just a really nice family making a living. A couple other points: 1. They cook everything fresh so don't be in a hurry. 2. They don't sell alcohol and not sure if they allow it. We didn't ask. 3. We were there at night and walked through the village. It's quite dark but don't let that bother you. It's safe. Finally, they mentioned that during the day, they can take you out to their floating raft where you can swim and get served lunch. We will be back for that. So, please visit and support these people. They are a creating a wonderful experience on this magical island.
Tiny family run restaurant. Delicious Thai cuisine and local dishes with good portions for a low price. Only the beef was a bit chewy but everything else was delicious. In particular the big selection of Rotis is a delight. Definitely recommended for a relaxed dinner.

It was our favorite restaurant on the island and we visited different places, from street-food to village restaurant. But we liked the food here the most. People who work there are very friendly, the owner very chatty and he plays a cool musik. You can eat on the beach, so it can be also romantic. Great place. We wish the people who create this place all the best.

We visited once and then returned the next day to eat the same thing. Garlic and pepper prawns! Iâm salivating just writing this review. We sat right on the waters edge drinking beer, eating these scrumptious prawns and watching the village life go by on the waterway. Iâd go back tonight if I could. Thank you.
