Very quaint and authentic seafood shop with restaurant attached. It felt so good to pick out your own fish and oysters instead of having to settle for prepackaged supermarket fare. The people who work here are friendly and will tell you all you need to know about how to best cook seafood. Although very casual, the dining room seemed to be a popular place for locals to lunch when my husband and I dined there. Definitely will be returning.

Keep in mind that this is not a high class dining establishment. It is out in the country and easy to miss. You place your order at the counter, find a table, then wait and it may take some time since each order is individually prepared. I ordered the shrimp and oyster dinner. Cole slaw was excellent. Fries were wonderful. Shrimp were perfectly prepared. Oysters were large, plump, succulent, and super sweet. Hush puppies were the best ever. Overall, one of the very best seafood meals I have had! Friendly service.

Tried Sam's on the recommendation of a friend. Glad I went. They have a wide-ranging menu to meet all tastes. Seafood can be grilled or fried. I ordered fried shrimp with okra and slaw. Food came out promptly and nice and hot. Shrimp were large but battered more heavily than is customary in SC. Turned out to not be a problem. They were delicious! Okra were nicely cooked and the slaw was quite good. Their tartar sauce was good but unusual, more like a remoulade. Restaurant was very clean and service was courteous. Will definitely return.

Guess the Dept of Health inspectors missed this place.Walked in place not that clean, employees behind counter smoking, just hanging out. Fish in display case in ice, people coming in to buy and picking their own fish. No one wears gloves, hats, hair nets. Ordered shrimp. Frozen at best. Nothing spectacular. Fries undercooked, slaw lots of sugar. Thereâs other places to eat.

We were traveling along the River Walk and saw this place across the way so we decided to check it out. There was plenty of seating both inside and out along with bar seating. It was open and spacious. They apparently have bands playing in the evening. The waitress was very attentive and swift. Our beer was ice cold! The menu was varied - from burgers to salads to fish. We were there for lunch. I had the Ahi Tuna Salad with home made wasabi sauce. It was EXCELLENT. And my husband had the Ruben with home made potato chip which he said was also excellent. We found the prices in line with other area restaurants. We will absolutely be back.

Located south of Conway on Rt. 701, this dining experience is unique. From the outside, you will think what am I doing here, then you taste the food and understand why this is a locals favorite. Fried and broiled seafood is why you come to Luvan's. They specialize in low country fried seafood, but they make broiled if you ask for it . The red meat is also very good but this is a place for seafood. The oysters and shrimp are great and my personal all you can eat fried shrimp that has a very reasonable price for the entree. A fun place to eat with friends. A different atmosphere with good seafood makes Luvan's a place to experience.
