We got the feeling that they were probably trying, but had failed to grasp the basics. One order of chowder failed to arrive, and our server gave conflicting responses when pressed. Fish and chips was good. Overall we felt that they didn't care enough about their customers.

My review in a nutshell: We have had great experiences with this restaurant for breakfast and lunch; indeed their curly potatoes are amazing, and the service has been efficient. It is why I gave this place 3 circles. HOWEVER our dinner experience was awful. The meal was so salty, Ill probably be up all night drinking water. Not just one item, either. We sent one plate back as the fish was inedible. The sauce on my steak was also so salty I couldnt eat it. I did like the blue cheese dressing on my salad. And to be fair, the dish sent back was comped on our bill. I hope they figure out how to adjust the seasonings. We would return for breakfast or lunch but dinner, not so much. Unfortunately there seems to be a pattern in past reviews of this establishment with regard to the saltiness of dishes. This could easily be fixed by the management, and I hope it is, as we would love to continue to support local independent restaurants.

This place is a fairly new restaurant. Itâs located in a kind of hidden area. It would be easy to miss, but trust me and find it. This has got to be one of the best seafood restaurants around. Note, I am not from Brookings and have not tried every place here, but I do know seafood. Anyways, I never understood why a place that has fresh, local caught, etc insists on battering and deep frying everything. This place treats seafood like it was meant to be. The seafood is the star, not the batter and oil. The seafood is all fresh, and includes Alaskan halibut and salmon, Argentinian prawns, Hawaiian ahi, etc. I wouldâve liked some Coos Bay oysters (hint hint to the owner when you read this). The halibut (about 1.5 inches thick) was cooked to perfection. Not dry on the outside or raw in the middle, which takes skill on a thick piece like this. The atmosphere is comfortable. You might just make friends with every guest there. Not stuffy or pretentious. Overall it is outstanding and super friendly, so do yourself a favor and go here.

We wanted a steak and prime rib dinner so hubby & I chose O'Holleran's, the only steakhouse in Brookings. Another couple came in after us and was served while we waited for our waitress Denise. She finally came to our table and asked if we'd like drinks. Their wine list is very small & slim pickings, we ordered water...Hubby ordered prime rib, medium well and filet mignon, medium. Hubby's came very rare and my steak was well done, tasted good, tender but way over cooked & not what we ordered. (did they switch the orders??!?) The waitress took the prime rib back to the kitchen Twice and then said they'd redo my steak. They brought my steak back cut up and said there's pink there in the middle and didn't grill another one. We can Not recommend this restaurant.

What a find. Everything is fresh. Loved the fried oysters and clam chowder. Clans were excellent too. I like fried oysters. These were the best. Lightly coated and barely fried, enough for crunch and still juicy and almost raw. Liked the key lime pie and cupcake too. Small unpretentious place. Friendly attentive service.

Another Brookings eatery gone bad. Second try after years and a previous bad experience. Hoping we were wrong. Got worse . Music blaring from the bar with drunks hootin and hollering. Music in the cafe part use to be soft and ethnic and soothing a nice vibe. Waitress cold as ice from the start to finish Served our meal like a quarterback on the run. Had to call her over as drink was wrong.. a Jack on the rocks was a Jack and Coke, hot looked and tasted like someone left it and new ice added. Got another nice bar waitress. my drink White Russian was also watered down or made with skim milk LOL but drank it we hate to complain and we didn't. Even when the sushi was not cold which sushi should be, and the creme berle was awful also not cold and no whip cream or offered as just thrown down on the table. Last time.. no more.
