The Bay of Plenty (Māori: Te Moana-a-Toi) is a large bight in the northern coast of New Zealand's North Island. It stretches from the Coromandel Peninsula in the west to Cape Runaway in the east, a wide stretch of some 259 km of open coastline. The Bay of Plenty Region is situated around this body of water, also incorporating several large islands in the bay. The bay was named by James Cook after he noticed the abundant food supplies at several Māori villages there, in stark contrast to the earlier observations he had made in Poverty Bay.

We decided at the last minute to go out for dinner on New Year's Eve whilst on holiday near Tauranga. Lucky enough to find a table at Nomad early in the evening and we had a lovely time listening to the music and enjoying our food. I had the cauliflower risotto which was so delicious! My husband had the lamb rump which he also enjoyed. Both meals were excellent. We opted for a dessert to share - a chocolate fondant. Heavenly! Highly recommend this restaurant.

This used to be one of the top restaurants (IMO) in Tauranga and we recently visited based on past experience. The table service was really poor we wondered if maybe this had become a training ground for graduates to hospitality, as some of the wait staff had absolutely no clues. The food itself was very ordinary and we were really disappointed that Tauranga had lost what was once a special place.

We had dinner at Fishermanâs Wharf as a group of 10 on Friday night. It was a freezing cold night and the restaurant was beautifully warm and welcoming inside. Very attentive bar staff organised drinks while we waited for all members of our party to arrive. We ordered our starters and mains - some special requests were made and the manager obliged with no fuss and gave some great suggestions. The food was fantastic, beautifully cooked, fresh and plentiful. Couldnât fault it.At the end - we all paid individually and once again, no fuss or complaint from cashier at all.. We will certainly be back next time we are in Ohope.

Latitude is a large bar/restaurant which caters for a variety of age groups. It is warm in the winter with the fires going and on a Sunday there is always live music in the afternoon along with Happy Hour (4-6 usually). The menu provides a nice selection and since Iâve eaten there several times with others I can say that the food hasnât disappointed. I really enjoy the salmon salad! If you like to watch live sport there are at least 3-4 TV screens for choice.Good ambience and attentive staff.
