Award winning chef, Anthony Cross and his team of friendly and passionate kitchen and wait staff look forward to providing you with a warm, relaxed atmosphere and delicious, restaurant-quality meals unrivaled in terms of quality and consistency. Our lunch menu and coffees are a great break in a day out exploring North Canterbury or try our exceptional mains presented with our dinner service - for which we've had 11 New Zealand Beef & Lamb Excellence Awards.
Lovely service, great place to chat as it's not noisy, and food was pretty good too. There is a basic kids menu with the usual offerings on it, and reasonably priced.

one word to describe this pie is yum, I had the chicken, brie and cranberry and it was the best pie I have had from a bakery/cafe, my partner had the venison one and I couldn't get a word out of him until he had finished the pie and licked his fingers clean. I just wish the pie had been twice as big.

I wish they'd bring back the antipasto platters as the pizzas are nice but not the type of thing you'd come back for on a regular occasion. The staff are friendly which is nice and the atmosphere is relaxed.

Enjoy a slice of NZ history at our beautifully restored 1878 traditional pub with fresh food, local ales and personal service. Soak up the character and relax. We have a comprehensive bar, locals wines and traditional beers. Full expresso range of coffees and takeaway fast food. Fish and Chips, Pizza and Steaks are specialties.
A real gem. The pub has been restored under newmanagement of wonderful hosts who know how to run a full bistro pub, perfect for a Sunday lunch. Had a wonderful time - pork roast succulent, gravy magnificent and the plate overflowing with food. The beer garden is coming back to life under tender care, and the rest of the food is great too. The wine list is a little shy - don't expect great wines, but it's serviceable and the beer is good. A great refurbishment of beer, food and the pub itself.
