Situated opposite a bustling, frenetic, and somewhat disconcerting taxi rank, this restaurant's private parking provides a welcome welcome respite from this chaos. Ye Old Thatch has heaps of atmosphere. A quaint air-conditioned bar. Tables in the garden offering a relaxed atmosphere under the trees framed by the orange hues of the setting sun.
So much potential...
The food was very disappointing. We had the lamb curry and hunchback(?) steak. The curry had almost no meat and what meat there was, was more sinew and fat than meat. There is a severe drought in the Karoo at the moment. This possibly explains the poor meat quality. (The steak suffered the sane affliction. )
Service was friendly, coffee great. Will we try again? Maybe at a less frenetic time. Over Christmas, maybe not.

We started this business 2010 with a crazy idea to introduce Sushi into the Karoo. It is a owner run casual restaurant with 6 tables inside and 4 tables outside.

We are fully licensed and serve Pizza, Pasta, Salads, Sushi, Karoo Sushi, Tramezzini, Ciabattas. It is a small shop and kitchen and food is freshly prepared, so if you are in a hurry ask for the "fast lane" or pre order via phone.
One special thing about Karushi is that our staff is preparing the food freshly for you and the tip is being shared between everyone working on the shift. So this way a "Thank you for the good food" will complement everyone working as a team together in this shop and make everyone very proud.
It is a family atmosphere and all our staff is working there for 3 years and more.
We are not always there and we are keen to fix any problems.
Best Regards, Thomas and Kerstin

Was booked at Sun 1 Hotel. Visited this place to taste the traditional karoo dishes, unfortunatetly they were all sold out. Was offered braai option and some other dishes. Opted for gourmet burger, it was just OK. Bottled water was limited to a 35 rands water bottle, not impressed at all, other water brands were sold out. Still would like to taste their traditional karoo dishes.

We had leg of lamb with vegetables and an exyensive breakfast. Both came quickly and the food was superb. Vegetables well cooked and the lamb was out of this world. Beautiful restaurant with open view of the town and the surroundings. Clean and modern feel. Lovely shop downstairs. Friendly and efficient staff. Really friendly and relaxed feel. Authentic Karoo!
