Sitting in Faadhippolhu (LH) atoll, this island is home to one of the most exquisite landscapes. Fushifaru is located between two channels connecting the atolls inner lagoon to the outer sea. Its historical and natural distinctiveness is evident from three of the most extraordinary dive sites in the southern channel, synonymously named after the island. Neighbouring a sand bank towards the north, Fushifaru is also surrounded by a nationally protected reef. You can reach Fushifaru from a seaplane ride of just 35 minutes giving you a sky high view of your lively island nation host. Maldives, an Indian sub-continent is a string of twenty-six atolls with tropical islands. Our turquoise waters are home to a various marine ecosystems, white, sandy beaches and vast, marvelling reefs. Dhivehi is the local language of Maldives, a country with a history and culture like no other.
My family of 13, which included 5 kids aged 2.5 years old to 9 years old, had a wonderful family holiday in Fushifaru. Even before our trip, the email communication with the reservations team (shout out to Mr Wishah and Mr Ihthi) was very pleasant and that gave me a very good first impression of Fushifaru. I had originally booked for just my family of 4 people but my family decided to join as well, and I was very grateful to the reservations team for making swift arrangements to accomodate our big group of 13. On arrival, we were greeted warmly by a Fushifaru representative who went over and beyond to manage our many pieces of luggage for the seaplane transfer. We were also lead to a VIP lounge while waiting for our seaplane and it was stocked up with ample pastries, sandwiches, coffee, tea and juices for us to have. This was very helpful as we had 5 kids with us who were hungry almost all the time. We had actually chosen to stay in separate villas as per our original booking but we decided to stay in 2 x 2 bedroom beach villas that are next to each other on the sunrise side, and the Management arranged it for us as swiftly as they could. We were very grateful for their understanding to change our accomodation at the last minute. We had the pleasure of having Chelsea as our resident host and he took care of our every need as a family. We were very much amazed and impressed by the team's attention to detail. By day 3 of our stay, the cleaning team already knew when we will be at breakfast so they will clean our rooms when we are not in and they will do the same for the turn down service when we are having dinner. As we travelled with kids, we also appreciated every staff's effort in being friendly and kind to our kids. A special shout out to our host at the main restaurant - Mr Shariff, who happily greets us every morning and remembers who drinks which coffee every day! ? For families travelling with young kids, I do recommend to book the beach villas on the Sunrise side. The water is much calmer and better for kids. The snorkelling is much better on the Sunset side just behind the infinity pool. Food is great all the time. Breakfast was generally the same spread everyday but lunch and dinner changes everyday. Even though it is a boutique resort, Fushifaru has alot to offer for their guests. Their hospitality and service is beyond amazing and you can honestly feel their sincerity in welcoming you onto the island. We actually shed a few tears when we left because the team has left such a great impact on all of us and we never felt this strong emotional connection from any other resorts we stayed at before. Without a doubt, Fushifaru will be that one resort you will always come back to if you want to return to the Maldives. We definitely will be back soon!

Komandoo Island Resort & Spa, surrounded by a beautiful lagoon and long stretches of white, sandy beach, is the only resort on the island of Komandoo, in Lhaviyani Atoll. It is 500 meters long by 200 meters wide, about 10 Hectares (25 acres). Your seaplane transfer from Velana International Airport is a scenic, 40 minute flight. Komandoo welcome guests 18 years and older.
This was our second trip to Komandoo - we had visited 10 years ago and loved it so much. We were a little hesitant about booking the same place twice, in case it wasn't quite as good as the first time, but we needn't have worried. It was just as incredible, if not moreso! Everything on the island is designed to relax you, and the service levels are incredible - the staff are highly attentive but also friendly and relaxed, and always willing to have a chat, which we love. They have achieved maximum service levels without any of the stuffiness or pretentiousness that we have heard of in other places. There are also more locals working here now than last time which we really liked, as it's great to see resorts supporting their local populatons and economies. It's true that the island is located right next to a local island that is currently conducting some construction, and a few times what we thought were claps of thunder were actually a JCB working on a new harbour for the locals. That's off the south beach though which are not the premium villas. We actually stayed on that side and it didn't bother us in the slightest, but then we quite enjoy seeing all aspects of the Maldives - both the classic calm white beaches (which the premium northside villas are fronted onto) and the slightly windier but more authentic south beach that looks onto other islands. You can take your pick here and book accordingly. For snorkellers and divers, the reefs and marine life are excellent around the island. One word of advice to fellow travellers - pack light! You absoultely don't need any footwear (even for dinner, as the restaurant and bars all have sand floors and it's AMAZING). 100% would recommend.

The first designer hotel in the Maldives, where we add a contemporary touch to the beauty of sea, beaches and typical tropical atmosphere, creating a unique resort. High-end furnishing combines naturally with the Maldivian ambience, creating a welcoming and hospitable environment for an unforgettable holiday. All this with the very warm hospitality of the Cocoon staff, because a hotel is not just the architecture, but more about the small details that our staff attends to your every need. Once arriving on Male, it’s a short 30-minute journey by seaplane to the haven of Cocoon.
We loved every single thing on the Island. Amazing food, big reef with lot of Sea life, clean and cozy room, various activities. Personnel very helpful and qualified. Early check-in and late check-out give you time to get the best out of every day!

30 min by sea plane from the main airport in Male to reach this beautiful Le Meridien resort. The atoll is very nice, about 2.2 km around the island if you like to walk on the beautiful white sand. Stayed in the water villa 232 on the sunset side and I must say that this was the best choice...I just wish to be closer to the reef to rich it faster while snorkeling. The best experience was to sleep every night outside the deck on a net suspended in the air with the sound of water, a nice breeze and an amazing starry sky. I loved the variety of food for breakfast and I will miss those fresh fruits and vegetables... I also love the fact that the resort is not using plastic bottles, they have a nice green sustainable program and they grow their own vegetables by a greenhouse hydroponic cultivation. Besides the beauty of the island and the surrounded nature typical of a Maldivian atoll, I must thank all the people who work hard to make our vacation exceptional. I want to personally thank all the staff at the reception for the nice welcome greeting, specially Bhagya, Arif and Amaany. A special thank you to the housekeeper Thasleen who took care of the villa amazingly, Raza at Turquoise restaurant every morning for breakfast and last the person who took care of our transfer from/to Male airport: thank you so much Nadheem (airport manager for Le Meridien Maldives Resort and Spa), your help with luggages, transfer and even with the airline staff was unforgettable, this is the type of person you want to meet when you arrive in a new place and is the last person you want to see when you leave. See you again!❤️
