Find out what Pub restaurants to try in Shanklin. Shanklin Beach is a beautiful, carefully tended stretch of sand on the Isle of Wight. Families appreciate the lifeguards, as well as the kids’ play area. And while there’s quite a hill separating the town from the beach, don’t worry—a lift makes it easy to tote all your beach paraphernalia down to the sand.

Most of the notable pubs in Shanklin are in the old village which is a right drag up the hill and then most of them are very food orientated which isn't always what you want. The Falcon is on a corner in the High Street close to the bus and rail stations so it's really easy to get to. The locals are friendly and there's always a good craic going on. Several real ales on as well as the usual lagers / ciders etc and a variety of pub games available. Definitely worth a visit.

We had visited this nice comfortable pub last year when we were offered a good choice, albeit only 3 pumps, of ale. This year the choice of ales, whilst still 3 pumps, appeared to have been dumbed down. With so much good ale around these days we were a little disappointed.Hi and thank you for taking the time to leave a review.Firstly let me assure you that nothing substantial has changed we continue to offer two resident ales and usually a third rotational beer.Last year would likely have been (depending on the time of year) Directors and a Theakstson as residents. The Directors is now HSB during the winter months (this is more popular) and proper job during the summer ( when darker ales struggle). Undortunately we couldn't get Theakstons reliably delivered as it seemed to get cooked somewhere en route to the island and so we had to lose it but again Spitfire has proven a very popular addition.I am not sure how this can be seen as a 'dumbing down' of the offer but encourage you to pop in and try the guest. I'm always happy to discuss the dramas of real ale (as many will agree) Thanks again for sharing your thoughts Gav

Independent family run free house Traditional thatched pub in the centre of Shanklin old village, serving real ales, good home made food and locally caught crab and lobster in a warm and cosy atmosphere,Pretty enclosed courtyard garden to the rearLive easy
Lovely looking pub. But smaller on the inside than you expect. Though I think there was an upstairs dining area too. A somewhat typical decor inside, warming log burners, comfy seats, but tables all fairly close to each other. However food was well worth it. Crab and lobster soup was superb, prawn cocktail was full of tasty prawn. Duck in blackberry and port sauce was excellent. Burger was one of the best I've tasted. Thick tasty fresh meat. Excellent crispy chips. Portions huge! Recommend this place. And suggest you book a table in advance. We were lucky but it was a wet Monday night.
