A one-of-a-kind cocktail lounge in Historic Downtown Opelika, Alabama.
We happened to be in Opelika for a night and were walking around the historical downtown area. We overheard someone in the street mention a speakeasy that was a little hard to find. They said âlook for the bearâ. We were intrigued, so we just had to find it! After a little searching we came upon a wooden door with a bear on it... we had found it!This speakeasy is a comfy lounge with a long, beautifully crafted bar and cozy tables along the wall. There is also something inside that Iâve only seen in pubs in Ireland, a âsnugâ. A snug is a private space where people sort of âhideâ out so they're not seen drinking. The guys behind the bar, Matt and Casper make some absolutely amazing cocktails. They actually make their own simple syrups and bitters here at the bar, including a butter simple syrup that I had in one of my drinks â OH MY!! Matt and Casper are true experienced mixologists! We had their Old Fashioned with Smoked Bacon⦠what can be better than a drink with bacon??!!!! And for "dessert" the Nutty Brew, which is Irish Whiskey with Amaro, cold brew coffee, butter simple syrup and black walnut bitters â AMAZING!!!!Definitely check this place out!

Saturday was a home game, so local restaurants will naturally be crowded. This restaurant was no exception. I had a grilled chicken Caesar salad. It was ok, not fabulous. The wings were good (namesake- should be). Our server was polite and apologetic but clearly overwhelmed. Not many options for vegetarians, but one could manage.

I have eaten here three times since I arrived in the area. The service has always been excellent. I had the Mile high nachos which was very good and filling. The wings were also excellent. I tried the cowboy ranch flavor and the Thai peanut ones. Today I decided to indulge in the cheesecake chimichanga. It was delicious!

We go to OâCharleyâs on a pretty solid weekly basis for Free Pie Wednesday and today, I am beyond happy because the Grilled Salmon Bowl is baaaccck! We are always happy w/ the food & staff there because both are excellent- Nate and Lyndeen are great servers and the manager, Robin Mims, is awesome! The Grilled Salmon Bowl is filled w/ kale, tomatoes, carrots, feta cheese and is terrific - highly recommend it!

Opelika finally has its own brewery! And they produce excellent beer. The brew pub is large and plainly decorated. They are better brewmasters than decorators. They offer a good selection of beer but they run out of some of my favorites on a regular basis. I am still a fan. I bought a growler (takeaway container) and I always leave with 64 extra ounces of beer. They also serve pizza, but I have never had one.

We stopped in for lunch mid afternoon and were delighted with the range of Irish appetizers, some well-poured Guinness and a delightful range of meals from boxty to burgers, fish and chips. All were prepared to order and served in a timely manner. Highly recommend the cabbage and sausage deep fried wontons, decadent and delicious.Service was great. Back house cook even popped out to say âHiâ and check on things.

We had dinner with family that we rarely see Brooke was our Waitress and she was fabulous. She was well versed in the dishes they serve and was a wonderful bartender. The menu is limited but has enough variety to please everyone.
