A nice relaxing Beach Bar and Restaurant with free sunbeds and beach huts overlooking the Atlantic ocean.
Hard to imagine this spot was rave reviews five weeks ago. Worth the walk past the closed and closing Senegambia eating spots turn sharp right, you find Monkey Park on your left, avoid the ticket bumsters and a steepish road down to an unspoiled beach opening. Swiss Tavern on the left with a terrace overview of a very close sea front.Only drinks at time of our visit but well worth the walk away from the concrete jungle just up the road. Take a towel no beach chairs down here.

Woodies the Dutch bar and restaurant is located in Kololi Gambia. Woodies is a place what serves specialities from Holland and around. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. On Sundays we serve a special Sunday brunch with items from a Dutch breakfast.
A place run by Dutch. It offers a range of international and some traditional Dutch dishes (with a local twist). Friendly, helpful staff. Background music during the day, live music in the evenings. Near the end of the strip.

I didn't eat here but I did go for drinks regularly as I was staying at the hotel down the street. The bar staff were really great and always friendly and the price of drinks were really cheap.

First of I want to day that I'm sad writing this review as there have been huge changes in this area due to the closure of the Atlantic hotel just down the road which had a big impact on our time at the restaurant. Despite being in full tourist season there was nobody there, and obviously hadn't been for some time. We ordered 2 meals, a yassa and a BBQ chicken sandwich. Both meals were poor, the meat and sauce was identical in both so no difference in the yassa and afra flavours. It took about an hour to be served, I think they went out to get the food brought in, the beer was warm and the menu options limited, they only had 10%of the menu available. The guy who served us was great and explained they couldn't keep all the food with no customers which was understandable. I really hope that things pick up for them when the Atlantic reopens add the guide book review and others on this site have obviously had a very different experience.

Came for breakfast. English breakfast was embarrassing. Arrived after 40 minutes, eggs fried to a crisp and two small bits of overfried bacon that was almost too salty to eat. Cheese omelette was passable but came with assortment of small fries that looked like they had been collected off yesterday's plates. I cut the chips up to stop them coming out again. Don't come here is my advice.

Visited Smiling Coast Guesthouse just the once during our stay and wished we'd had more time in The Gambia to go back again. The atmosphere was wonderful, the owner quirky and so friendly and the music and locals were fab.Enjoyed dancing on the mosaic tiled 'dancing floor' where even the tiles welcome you!!!Great prices and even better welcome.

Probably the closest you will come to local food - they serve Domada, Benechin, Yassa - all given a European twist and served very well - also the Captain Fish with lime sauce is equally good - service is very friendly and good if not busy. The only downside - very loud live music comprising 90% drumming starts at about 9-ish - this may be attractive to some - but not if you have unimpaired hearing!!!
