Sandle Wood Yards

Ken’s vast local knowledge of the area and his ability to impart this knowledge with humour made this personal tour of the relocated school and teacher’s quarters a well worthwhile experience. The information about the sandalwood was very interesting and certainly opened my eyes to its uses both past and present. The sandalwood tree was about to flower, another week and I would have seen the flowers, a rare sight. I was lucky enough to be able to view the historic photos in the York Society rooms. Tour is by gold coin donation, well worth doing for any age group.

The Old York Mill houses an emporium that stocks antiques, memorabilia, artworks, curios and giftware. Reasonable prices too. Staff are always up for a chat. Scored some Christmas gifts here. The toilets are awesomely made out. Next door is a good cafe.
