Every neighborhood in San Francisco has its own personality, from the hippie chic of the Upper Haight to the hipster grit of the Mission. The Marina district boasts trendy bistros and postcard-perfect views of the Golden Gate Bridge, while Noe Valley offers quaint and quiet boutiques. Wave hello to the sea lions at Pier 39, and sample local cheese and charcuterie at the Ferry Building. Sit in on a yoga session in Dolores Park or marvel at the Dutch Windmill across from Ocean Beach.

The Coastal Trail is the 28-mile coastline of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
A wonderful way to get exercise and explore the beautiful coastline of Northern California. The California coastal Trail winds up and down the oceanside shore and takes you through some of the most stunning vistas in the country, perhaps the world. At times, you'll feel like you're on the Amalfi Coast in Italy, staring out at the turquoise blue waters of the Mediterranean. And now, especially during Covid, this is a fantastic way to get outside in a safe, socially distanced way.

Mile-long Baker Beach lies at the foot of rugged serpentine cliffs west of the Golden Gate. Large waves, undertow and rip currents make the beach unsafe for swimming, but it provides panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands and Lands End. You can fish or check out the shorelife along the beach and rocky shoreline. Restrooms and picnic tables are nearby.
This is a great beach to be at in the late afternoon to see the sun setting onto the Golden Gate bridge. We just happened to find this beach by driving along the coast from the windmills in Golden Gate Park. The parking lot here is not large and it appeared to be mostly local people.

Sports Basement Presidio is a sporting-goods retailer and bike renter right next to the Golden Gate Bridge. We take pride in selling the best brands at basement prices. Our bikes are amazing and we've got free parking and lots of great shopping!
We lack car racks and all that is required to trek our bikes to The City so, we chose to rent bikes from the Sports Basement..... And, what a great decision that was! Free Parking.... Reserving them was easy and they were affordable..... Bikes were ready and waiting for us upon our arrival. And, the views along Crissy Field and The Marina cannot be beat. Loved the time spent w family. Will be doing it again (either renting from Sports Basement or perhaps finally buying a car rack from them).

Just 10 minutes from downtown San Francisco, this golf course was formerly operated by the military but is now open to the public.
