Top 7 Other Outdoor Activities in Breckenridge, Colorado (CO)

April 2, 2022 Oliva Fomby

Once a mountain mining town decimated and nearly destroyed by river dredging, the surprisingly versatile Breckenridge has bounced back over the last century to become one of Colorado's top year round alpine getaways, with all-seasons activities galore. Restoration of the river area has led to the creation of pristine hiking trails and greenery in the summer months, but winter is the real draw. Skiers flock to the groomed slopes, chutes and bowls of Breckenridge Ski Resort by the million.

Quandary Peak

This is an amazing hike. Not for beginners or small children. It took us about 3 hours to the top. It’s very steep at the top and rocky but well worth the views. Absolutely beautiful. Take water and a few snacks and of course a camera!!!!!!!!! You won’t be disappointed.

Georgia Pass Road

Reviewed By JanetF725 - Highlands Ranch, United States

A lot of books/sites tell folks they can do these trails in a high clearance SUV. An experienced driver can, indeed navigate it just fine, but it is definitely harder than a dirt road. These passes are subject to constant barrages by Mother Nature, and conditions change each spring, depending on how the winter went. The local 4wd clubs do help to get it open in the spring, and remove obstacles, like fallen trees. Summer rains sometimes create ruts or muddy areas. The scenery is beautiful but make sure your equipment is in good shape and you know what you are getting into. Usually the local Forest Service office can give you updated info on trail conditions.

Mountain Angler, along with guide Pierce Hite, gave us a day of fun, fly fishing and memories that we won't forget for quite some time! Never having a fly fishing rod in my hands, I can attest that Pierce had an infinite amount of patience and humor with us all. Weather and temperature, along with his great knowledge made this a day trip that we highly recommend to anyone - novice to experienced angler! Take the day and create some wonderful memories with this company, and hopefully Pierce!!
