Well planned, maintained and signposted walking and cycling trail along the creek through remnant bush land in South Castlemaine. The trail starts across the road from the Showgrounds in Camp Reserve on Forest Road. This trail meets the Castlemaine to Maldon trail just after the Pyrenees highway crossing.

The gardens are right next to the caravan park and a beautiful spot for a morning walk. It's interesting to read all the plaques explaining about the history of the gardens.

We had our yearly reunion in castlemaine and decided to ride the Castlemaine to Maldon trail. It is a great ride 18.8km long - one way-you do have to watch as it is a gravel trail and there is lots of tree debri to navigate but it is all worth it when you get to the lovely town of Maldon

Take time out of the nanosecond that is your human life and contemplate the eons encapsulated in this fascinating geological formation. Imagine the immense ancient forces that were once at work under your feet. Castlemaine has a poet who writes praises to this amazing glimpse of the secret life of our planet, and so it should.

What a remarkable old house with a remarkable history. It was lovely to learn about the family that lived here and that all the furniture etc is legitimate. The lady that gave us the spiel on the place was very knowledgeable. Worth a visit!

Victory Park was so named in 1919 to commemorate the Allied victory in World War I, also known as the Great War. iMany young local men volunteered to serve.. Victory Park is in the centre of town. The park has hosted many festivals and markets. It has benches and a BBQ, and also a payground, and toilet, with convenient parking. By the way, the memorial is to Sir James Patterson MLA, who was briefly Premier of Victoria.. The memorial has a water fountain for humans, horses and dogs.
