Arrecife (/ˌærəˈsiːfeɪ/; Spanish pronunciation: [areˈsife]) is a city and municipality in the Canary Islands (Spain) situated in the centre-east of the island of Lanzarote, of which it has been the capital since 1852. The city owes its name to the rock reef ('Arrecife' is Spanish for 'reef') which covers the beach located in the city. The city also gives its name to the nearby Arrecife Airport.

An excellent spot to sit in one of the many little bars and restaurants listening to the spanish music and watching the boats floating on the water. Try and catch it when the sun is low in the sky and the golden ripples are almost hypnotic (when you've had a beer or three). Lovely place to sit and relax.

Lovely beach area, clean wide promenade, stretching long way both directions along seafront, beautiful villas alongside, lots of nice cafe/bars/restaurants, and nice surprise, public loos!!! Not many of these around. Plenty of seats along the prom. I only walked from Playa Honda, then up to the main road opposite Superdinos, couldn't cross the main dual carriage way, so wandered back down again, a 1k walk each way, 2k is enough for me, but it was a beautiful day, warm and sunny, quite a fair wind so lovely white breakers on a deep blue sea. Ended up back at Playa Honda bay, into Goliaths for a fresh long drink of iced orange juice, lovely staff, great stuff.

There are sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach. 3 EUR a sunbed and 2 EUR for an umbrella. Lovely and quiet and the weather was really nice the year for the first week in December it was a lot cooler last year.
