Texarkana is a city in Bowie County, Texas, United States, located in the Ark-La-Tex region. It is a twin city with neighboring Texarkana, Arkansas. The population of the Texas city was 37,280 at the 2015 census estimate. The city and its Arkansas counterpart form the core of the Texarkana Metropolitan Statistical Area, encompassing all of Bowie County, Texas, and Miller County, Arkansas. The two cities had a combined population of 66,330 at the 2010 census, and the metropolitan area had a total population of 136,027.

Built in 1885, this Italianate Victorian home is uniquely designed in the shape of a club because (as legend has it) money to build the house was from the winnings of a poker game with a lucky draw of the ace of clubs. Filled with original furnishings dating from the 1720s to the 1940s from the last occupants of the house, it is regarded as one of the best attractions in the country. The family donated not only the house but also furnishings and personal items. As a result different rooms are set up to reflect different times. The unique layout actually resulted in a useful design for living and entertaining. Reserve a tour through the Museum of Regional History.

The Museum of Regional History in Texarkana offers an insight into some of the aspects of the Texarkana from the past. A highlight for me was the room dedicated to Scott Joplin that featured different items and anecdotes about his life and work. Also the safe of the bank which was originally located in the building was neat to see. While the museum is small and has limited artifacts it displays, it is still an interesting place to visit. The staff was very friendly.
