South Tyrolean open-air museum. The outdoor area with the old farmhouses and workshops reflects the everyday life of the peasant population. The Mair am Hof residence shows the stately rooms of the landed gentry and the ethnographic collections.

Man’s fascination with mountains has been unbroken as long as anyone can remember. LUMEN gives this fascination a photographic home: located at the summit of the region Kronplatz (in South Tyrol), 1,800 square metres are dedicated to mountain photography. Spanning four floors LUMEN offers the possibility to experience the history of mountain photography from its beginnings until the present as well as displaying the art of mountain-photographers from all over the world. A scientific approach and entertainment are not contradictions — LUMEN shows historic pictures and digital innovations, exciting temporary and special exhibitions as well as spectacular productions. The curated program stands out due to its interdisciplinary character: alpinism, tourism, politics, spirituality and history — the subject mountains is examined from different perspectives.

MMM is a great place for mountain lovers. This museum is dedicated to mountain inhabitants customs and traditions. There are 3 floors dedicated to the different continents, in my opinion (personal preference) the best parts are the ones dedicated to Asia (Nepal, India...). The location is great, inside Bruneck castle, you could also "climb" to the top where you can get a great view. There is a beatiful shop with some old Messner books hardly findable elsewhere. Price is 10 euro, a bit expensive but the visit is recommended.

The rich and varied programs of exhibitions of modern and contemporary art forms enliven museum activitiy. Five to seven annual exhibitions present regional, national and international art. Graphics, painting, sculpture and photography are in constant rotation to meet the interests of a wider audience. The permanent exhibition represents the historical pillar of art from the collections of the former local museum of Bruneck/Brunico. The most important pieces of this collection are housed in the Gothic Hall. They include outstanding examples of local religious art, such as the late Gothic winged altar by Simon and Veit von Taisten, works by Michael Pacher, Friedrich Pacher, Paul Troger and the Master of Uttenheim.
