Famed for its soccer team and music scene, which has produced the likes of the Smiths and Oasis, this center for sports and the arts is a down-to-earth and friendly city. The so-called Capital of the North has overcome industrial decline, bombing (in WWII and by the IRA) to become a confident and cosmopolitan city of well over two million. It is well served by a bus and light rail network. Top attractions include the Lowry art complex, arcade Affleck's Palace and Canal Street gay village.

I have never had any complaints about this cinema. Prices are reasonable (though we use Odeon Limitless Card which is amazing if you see a lot of films per month), and the location is ideal for us, right in the centre of Manchester. The screens range from quite small, to large. However, the amount of seating per screen never feels like it is too much for the size of the screen. Often performances are quite quiet, and I have never had any trouble with other customers and noisy people within the screens like I have had at some places. The overall look of the cinema is nice too, outside, it's an old converted warehouse, but within it is designed like an old fashioned cinema, and this is a lovely touch.

Me and my partner go here at least twice a month as we have the unlimited cards (a must for any film buffs) always a great visit, it's recently been refurbished with all need reclining leather seats and different screens for a more immersive experience. Staff are always friendly and the ice creams are a must!!

If you have never visited this cinema, you have not experienced Manchester! From the great value mid week tickets, possibility of having the WHOLE screen to yourself, brilliant staff, super clean facilities and unknown adventures in the car park (from football matches to comic learner drivers) we will always support this legendary cinema. Plenty of choice with 10+ screens, but doesn't feel plastic and sterile as with most multiplexes. I think Showcase must own the land from way back when, so no need to make huge profits on the tickets and concessions. However, I appreciate this cinema is perhaps like Marmite...some folks just will not get its odd charm, but if you try it, you might just like it. Be surprised!
