It played an important role in Greek myths, as the site of the stories of Cadmus, Oedipus, Dionysus and others. Archaeological excavations in and around Thebes have revealed a Mycenaean settlement and clay tablets written in the Linear B script, indicating the importance of the site in the Bronze Age.

Spent here a week on friendâs recommendation. Iâve never rested so well in my life. You actually live 30 meters from the sea, the food is fresh, local and made with love. The hospitality is beyond my ability to describe. Many, many thanks to Natasha and her family. Thanks to Valdemaras for the recommendation. We will be back!Highly recommended!

I spent three days in Thiva with my 46 students of Liceo Classico "A. Poliziano" (Montepulciano, Siena, Italy) attending our annual Short Course on Classics and two colleagues, and we had two dinners and one lunch at Barbeque, a beautiful millennial-style restaurant in the heart of the city. Anghelos, the young boss, and his collaborators gave us more than we could ever expect for a school group: excellent and excellently varied appetizers (tzatzìki and tyrokafterì combined perfectly tradition and innovation), grilled meat like brizòles and biftèkia, salads and simply delicious desserts. Service was fast and accurate, kindness was great and all the crew took care of four girls who needed special menues.

Although it's a very beautiful tavern, next to the train station, with nice outdoor decoration (trees, flowers, stone floor) and a stunning interior decoration....I was a little bit dissatisfacted because its main food is meat. Good food and prices but they should recall expand their menu and from tavern, upgrade it to restaurant. Having foods like moussaka, gemista, soutzoukakia or anything besides meat, will bring more customers too.

Unpretentious eatery in a central location, with an extensive printed menu and not much effort at decor or atmosphere, serving extraordinarily good meat, precisely cooked, with imaginative sauces. Highly recommended!
