Iâve lived in Colchester for years, and Iâve always walked by here, on the way to a night out, thinking âmust try that placeâ and have never gotten around to it, until my friend came to Colchester. The food is absolutely divine, the service is accommodating and excellent, and itâs just a really lovely atmosphere. AND itâs family run and the prices are very reasonable. Donât even bother with chain Italian restaurants, this place is far superior.

Visited here with our family. Our daughter lives in Hadleigh and is so lucky to have this on her doorstep! It is simply lovely. Excellent service, food was amazing and lots of choice.This is a restaurant that restores your faith in eating out. Everything about it is something to bring a smile to your face. I have no doubt when next in Hadleigh we will visit again. We cant wait.

Lots of options to choose from including nice range of fish dishes. Pasta and gnocchi great as was the mixed meat platter. Small out door area to enjoy on a warm day. Nice venue just off the high street.

This place ticks so many boxes ...The welcome is great. Seated quickly, menus delivered, drinks order taken.No charge for breads and dips to start.Order taken and then food turned up quickly.The food is almost all charcoal grilled, which makes it delicious.Decent sized portions and well priced too.Cleared our table quickly.This restaurant seems to do it all right, and so we will be back!

Excellent service from the moment arrived until the moment we reluctantly departed. Food was delicious, even my rather fussy daughter enjoyed everything. The fish cakes were sublime. The host was charming and entertaining, the chef was concerned that you enjoyed his creations, he really didnât need to worry it was all exceptional. An absolute gem of a restaurant, see you again soon.

Last weekend we were able to take all 12 excellent rooms at the Mistley Thorn for the weekend for family to stay together ahead of our son's wedding in Tendring. (Because it is so popular and to ensure we had the full hotel we booked it last October 2018). The staff at Mistley Thorn could not have been more accommodating with all the arrangements. We were also able to host a welcome meal for 33 friends and family in the private dining area on the Friday evening. The food was super. The breakfasts are renowned delicious and relaxed.The Mistley Thorn is beautifully styled, the the seafood is excellent and the staff are welcoming, fun and professional. The bedrooms are heavenly with divine bedlinen and luxurious mattresses. Particular thanks to Clare, Becky and Paddy.

Itâs a shame you can only give 5 stars!!! Deserves a lot more, staff are fantastic... the best in the area! The food is unbelievable and theyâve got a new menu!!! So if you havenât eaten there in recent months then plan another night out as it is well worth the visit!!! â¤ï¸
