This is the second time I have had a takeaway from here, the first time the food was great, but unfortunately the second meal was awful the food was covered in what I can only describe as an oil slick,my wife had a Thai green curry and as well as the oil the chicken, she said tasted like tandoori in a mushy like sauce which was nothing like Thai green curry sauce ,we were very disappointed and will not be purchasing food anytime soon from here again.

Iâm a bit of a curry snob. Anything south of Leicester makes me dubious and, after the joys of many northern curries (Syhiba, Prashad and Tharavadhu in particular), Iâm hard to please. Pipasha isnât all that smart or different, but we had a great meal here with very tasty (and huge) tikka paneer, chickpea masala, vegetable dhansak and tarka dal with added spinach, plus a light and fluffy naan. Poppadums were light and crisp and the chutneys really tasty. Service was fast and friendly too. The best in the area (and better than the famed Madhuban in Liss).

The Shahanaz was once one of the best Indian restaurants in the area, renowned for good service and consistently a very good standard of food. Unfortunately, it is not what it once was and has not been for sometime. I last ate here 5-6 years ago and noticed then that it was not the same. Having recently moved back to the area, weâve been a couple of times and sadly it is still average at best. I would like to have written at 4 or 5 stars, because the staff are very nice and the restaurant itself has a nice character. Having said that, the restaurant was nicer before it was changed to the current look a few years ago. The real problem is clearly in the kitchen. Many of the dishes are obviously knocked up using the same sauce, as was obvious with our groups madras and jalfrezi, the latter just hotter with added green chillies, and a madras should not be swimming with chopped onions, peppers and tomatoes! It doesnât say that on the menu, so why serve it that way? Not the first time. Ordering a takeaway and having a beer whilst waiting was rather strange this evening, as Iâd barely sat down for 5 minutes with a pint to be told my food was ready. Now, quick service is ok with takeaway, but taking into consideration that i had walked in and ordered and sat with a drink whilst waiting, that is extremely quick and would suggest a real lack of skill behind the scenes. I hope Shahanaz will take these comments into consideration, as Haslemere is calling out for a great Indian restaurant, which they once did so well.

Once again a magnificent meal in lovely surroundings with friendly staff. The quality of the food is outstanding and so the chefs should be commended, we cannot wait to come back home.

Delivery was later than the expected time by 20 minutes, but the food was still hot. Popadoms seemed a little on the stale side, or not very fresh for sure. Biggest disappointment was ordering one of the curries as chicken tikka rather than chicken, which it was not! Not good considering you pay extra for it, and if that was their version of tikka then it was seriously lacking as it had no flavour and did not seem marinated.
