the people working for this hotel could not have been more engaging and friendly. from the manager to the hostesses, this was a really pleasant stop in a happy little town. having performed with our group ZED HEAD at an iconic local rockin' pub in sala that night, and after a fairly long flight from toronto, we to a man found the hotel a clean, well run respite for needed rest and a good night's sleep. the beds were comfy albeit smaller than we are used to in north America, the rooms had everything we needed... it was the character and friendly nature of the employees that made this hotel a great stop for us. every member of our rockin' blues band ZED HEAD, were extremely satisfied with the lodgings at hotell tinget.

Norrängen's alpaca! the small boutique hotel located on Sweden's largest alpaca farm! Enjoy a holiday together with fluffy alpacas in Sala, an approx. 1.5 hour journey from Stockholm! Together with a limited number of other guests, you get a guaranteed memory for life A unique experience! Sala - Västmanland
Visited for my birthday in february -22 and had a lovely stay! Saw and fed the alpackas, had a sauna/hot spa bath with lots of foam in it + beer and snacks, then a super good meal in the pub. Chilled in the small apt afterwards and had a fire lit in the fireplace. Next day we had a very nice breakfast and did the alpacka trek ? This isnt a luxury hotel but a farm - homey, clean, cozy, fun with really friendly staff and good food. I recommend!!!

A lovely spa with over 300 years of history. More than 100 buildings in many styles. Modern Spa and conference facilities, great restaurant with traditional and locally produced Swedish food and a church for weddings and ceremonies. The rooms are personal and cosy and the standards vary between two and three stars. You can also rent a cottage on the premises weekly.
We had a weekend getaway here from house and kids this last weekend on a friend’s recommendation. Our room was quite spacious, quiet and functional, Totally ok though with small investments it could be made much more attractive. Like paintings or some other art, nicer curtains and some repainting. The paint was peeling heavily on the windowsills (which is something we noticed in general that a lot of the buildings in the resort area were a bit run-down.) A real plus in the rooms were the beds which could be raised and lowered in several ways. The spa section was really nice seeming a little inspired by anthroposophy especially in the Yacuzzi aria, with the pastel colors, interesting angles in architecture and the lighting. The cold water dip was closed which was a pity but the steam sauna was absolutely divine. Don’t forget to check out the relax section behind the spa which we totally missed until we were just about to leave…! I am vegan and they didn’t have much to choose from on the three-course dinner menu. But they made some special dishes for me which were exquisitely tasty! My wife was also very happy with the quality of the non-vegan meals. We had to wait an hour during our first dinner between the hors d’oeuvres and the main meal. I don’t know how common that is but it was not good. The next evening was a totally different story and we got all of the different courses in very good time. Our waiters were very friendly. The breakfast vegan selection was also a bit limited which was too bad. Remember that the spa deals don’t normally include lunch so remember to bring your own snacks etc.! Otherwise it can be quite expensive with the snacks provided at the spa. All in all we can warmly recommend Sätra Brunn.?

You will stay in a historic and extraordinary environment, whether you choose our cozy hostel, STF Sala Silvermine or our beautiful mine suite 155 m underground. Both are also close to adventures, experiences and exciting activities. The Mine suite has landed on lists around the world as “one of the coolest and craziest hotel rooms in the world”.
We were given a voucher to stay in Sala's mine suite for a wedding present. We really didn't know what to expect before we arrived and, as the concept is clearly amazing, I’ll describe the experience as opposed to rating it, for others who are thinking of booking it. We arrived for 3pm where we had a one hour tour of the mine which was great. As there is nothing to do in the suite as such, it's recommended that you don't go down until 9pm, we decided on 8.30pm as we were worried we'd have too much time to burn in quiet Sala. Afterwards we headed into Sala for a delicious meal at restaurant Stora Torget. As we were there between Christmas and New Year, not much was open, so we decided to go back to the mine where we had a room booked at the mine's hostel. The hostel is a really old and beautiful house and was very cosy, so we settled with a glass of wine (we brought a bottle ourselves) and watched a bit of TV in the 60's/70's inspired lounge. At 8.30, a lovely young girl met us at the hostel and took us down to the suite. We had a table waiting for us with sparkling wine, water, fruit, cheese and biscuits and some chocolates (it's just a treat as opposed to a meal so definitely eat before hand). The girl arranged a breakfast time with us for 9.30am. We slept quite well, only waking up a few times to the noise of the heaters. It's also quite a small bed with one large duvet, which we're not used to, so that woke us up a few times. In the morning she came down with a breakfast of coffee, juice, muesli, cracker bread, cheese, meats and fruit and asked when we would like to be brought up, she recommended an hour. When you come back up, you still have your key to the hostel, so you can shower and even have a little rest if you need to. Overall, it was an amazing and surreal experience. In the suite itself, it's easy to forget that you're in a mine as it's warm, dry and cosy, but you're soon reminded when you need to make the creepy journey to the toilet in the 'untouched' mine (I had to wake my husband in the middle of the night to go with me, it's not something I’d want to do alone). The heaters in the suite are quite noisy but also a good distraction for some of the creepy noises that can occur.
