Not nice

Reviewed By DukeD19

Shoddy, smelly, no AC, and without a doubt the worst food ever. I ordered a beef fillet steak, the meat was as flat and wide as a piece of A4 paper, sent it back, ordered a mixed salad, had slimy asparagus and a tin of tuna cat food on it, sent it back, ordered a cheese and ham sandwich, cheese was strong, probably off, sent it back. Eventually requested bread and butter, they can’t ruin that? But they charged me for even a tiny scraping of butter too. Tried to reason with them over the costs, they were very hardline and not polite at all, basically the worst hotel and hospitality a man can find. The rest is up to you. P.S, get a chef who knows how to cook, and turn that bloody phone off in the restaurant, and don’t host late night football games, place was like a stadium, jokes!!!!! P.S, you can’t even cook French fries, seriously?!?!

An excellent hotel on the pilgrim trail

Reviewed By hansolofh

This hotel is just on the pilgrim footpath to Santiago de Compostela. It is towards the end of a long uphill starting in the village. This makes it rather isolated and fortunately the hotel has a full-service restaurant. All the buildings both the new and the old ones is very beautifully built. And the courtyard with its grass is very nice and cosy. The rooms, or rather the bungalows have two rooms and an outdoor sitting group. In the living room there are a kitchenet and table and some chairs that make it possible cook your own food and eat it in comfort. However, that is for guest with a car since there are no grocery nearby. The sleeping room is spacious and interesting in design since the walls are not connected with right angles. There is also a high ceiling above all the free rooms including the bathroom that is really large. It seems to be handicap friendly. The disadvantage is that almost all the floor will be wet after a shower which is a little awkward if you want to use the toilet shortly after. The staff is really nice persons and the do most of the stuff, they are the reception, the bar men and the water in the restaurant in the evening. The dining room there the dinner is served is really nice with al lot of stone flour and walls. However, the dinner is not that tasteful and pretty dull. All in all, this is a really excellent hotel for being on the pilgrim trail in the countryside.

El Retiro De La Luna

Una experiencia horrible

Reviewed By mariacprsr

Hostal San Paio

Last stop before Santiago De Compostela

Reviewed By X5141HAjohnp

Warm welcome by the owner. The room was spacious with double bed, shower over the bath and bedside lights. The only down side was that the mattress was, shall I say, was on its last season! There was a full menu including the Pilgrims memo of the day in a large dining room. The church/chapel did not have opening hours. Also the nearest supermarket had closed down. There was a fruit shop just off the Comino 500 meters was well stocked.

Pazo Xan Xordo

Situated at just 1 km away from the last stage of the Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago), and 3 km from Lavacolla airport, in total peace and quiet, the Pazo Xan Xordo is exactly what you would expect from this type of building, as it has a granary, chapel and stone cross. It is also ideally situated as a starting point for the last stage of the French Way to Compostela, or to find out more about the city of the Apostle James, and is in a fine, central position for visiting the rest of Galicia. 10 double bedroomsHeating, en suite bathroom, telephone, TV, mini-bar, wi-fiBreakfast

A 370 year old gem

Reviewed By stuarttemple

The building dates from 1650 and is riddled with character. Situated in a rural setting but close enough to places to visit. We sat around the fire with a bottle of wine for the evening after a long day riding motorbikes. Very friendly staff, well worth a visit.
