Driving up to the hotel you are able to park right outside Reception. Effortless check in experience, very friendly manager. Enter the secure gated parking, an absolute game changer in Derby. Room facilities were extremely good, clean, spacious with best bathroom including a washer/dryer and rain head shower. Clean, quietish and safe

We did not plan on having a night in Derby. The town is in a downward spiral with teenage crime and Covid. Very hard for hotels to recruit staff. The Lodge was safe and clean ……….Probably as good as it gets here. Bravo to the staff and management for their work.

Mornington Wilderness Camp

A wonderful stay at a place that gives hope for the future

Reviewed By CorvettePete

On arrival we were shown to our luxury tent (which is a tent on a permanent platform with an attached ensuite and kitchenette with minibar/fridge and jug. These were really nice with a mat throughout the bedroom section which made it comfortable underfoot and, I suspect, kept the bugs outs (although we didn’t actually see many insects). Dinner was in the “Bush Restaurant”. This was a 2 course set menu which was of restaurant quality. (Dietary requirements were catered for.) In the evening there was a slide show about the Australian Wildlife Conservancy. It gets pretty cold, so make sure that you wear warm clothes. We also did some short tours with guides: a riparian walk along the river and a drive in utes to see termites. Both were interesting with excellent guides. All in all, we had a wonderful time here.

Comfy, clean, affordable place to stay in Derby!

If pretty impossible to final any accommodation in Broome or Derby - especially with everyone in Australia travelling here! Even the caravan parks are booked out! All we needed was a clean, comfy room, shower/toilet facilities and in walking distance to essential services. The community pool is round the corner & delightful. The sunsets at the jetty are spellbinding! Pubs & cafes are in walking distance & if you’re lucky the world’s only crab races are fabulous fun. This simple accommodation is managed by a delightful, helpful, hands on man who is presently beautifying the surrounds. Totally recommend as excellent value!

What a great little park. Courteous & helpful managers. Sure, a couple of spaces a bit tight, like ours opposite amenities, but with a bit of patience, no problem. Love wide road, no concrete gutters. Once in, astro turf pads most welcome on lovely shady sites. Trees kept trimmed of low branches, taps non drip, sullage clean, amenities spotless. have no objection to the signs. If yobbos object to rules that benefit all, stay some where else that better suits your lifestyle. Big thanks to Pat & Sean. Some of the big brand parks could learn a lot from West Kimberley lodge. Happy days!!

Don’t do it !!!!!

I don’t even know where to start. This old run down dump has nothing going for it at all. How the shire even give it the approval to stay open has got me stumped. From its old, unkept rooms that smell like they haven’t been cleaned in years, to the pool where the artificial turf is riddled with holes that appear like they have been eaten by rats…………….. After having to go to the back of the building so we could enter (front part of the ‘Resort” looked abandoned) we kept saying to ourselves it can’t be that bad……….how wrong we were. I am not a fussy person at all but after being given our room key, we entered the room and then turn around and handed it back in. The smell was over powering and the furniture was so outdated it was dangerous. We then drove back to Broome and had to find accomodation. To be honest I would have been happier sleeping in my car, an empty bus shelter or even in the local park. Don’t do it people
