What an AWESOME little find! Bit strange to arrive with no receptionist or concierge but got the door code in advance, the key was ready and the room / suite for a family of 4 was superb! Lovely large terrace, super rooms, awesome bathrooms and just a lovely feel. And the bed was divine! Lovely stay, wish we could have stayed longer!

Perhaps my 20th stay here. I won’t be back. Poor service in restaurant and food nowhere near as good as it used to be. Even had to pour my own wine? Not enough staff and those present seemed overworked, harassed and disinterested. Room was not very nice compared to the ones I used to get in the Domaine. Very very expensive now for a most ordinary experience. And why would I want a 9 course all-vollaille meal ?

Stayed four nights. Wonderful location. Great attention to detail in creating the stylish, unique design of the lodges. Peaceful. Best minibar I have ever seen. Great coffee. Lovely sauna. Good spots to do a bit of yoga. Loved the rowing boat and went out in it every day. It was like staying in a zoo with all the animals around, and so lovely just watching them all appear at different times ... fish, alpacas, lamas, horses, goats, otters, cranes, and even the duck that hung out on the deck with us every night. Stephanie has created a truly magical place. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed my stay here but, be aware, its quirky. It is a terrific location right in the heart of Chablis which is optimal in an area of small villages where Chablis is the biggest and the only one with shops, cafes and businesses aside from wineries. The apartments themselves have a lot of charm and atmosphere. The top apartment, where I was, was pleasant enough in June to sit in and enjoy the view of lovely vineyards on distant hills beyond the rooftops, the breeze coming through the window and to stay some days. There are nice touches and quality appointments in the kitchen of the apartment including generous wine tasting glasses in keeping with an accommodation operated by a local vigneron. Their Chablis village shop is downstairs. There is a good shower in a decent bathroom. The stairwell is a little tight when carrying bags, as stated in other reviews, but it was no inconvenience to me. There were two bakeries within thirty metres of the apartment so I enjoyed terrific breakfasts and luncheons. Staff patiently answered my questions competently in reasonable English, both about the accommodation and the town. I hired a bike from the local tourist office on their suggestion. Riding in the area is easy. Walking along the river Serein through and out of the town is also most rewarding. Not quite so good was the bedding in the apartment. The beds are comfortable enough for the hardy traveller, but if you are over 6 feet (1.8 metres) then you will need to lie diagonally to fit, just, on the "double" bed. I slept well enough in it, though in this angular position. The extra 7 Euro charge for linen didn't concern me as my total tariff was very reasonable. I also agree with the reviews about this part of Chablis being unusually loud for a village on a Saturday night. Perhaps it would be poor form to complain about drinking in Chablis? My only real trouble was this. I had come all the way from Singapore into France on the day I arrived so I was looking forward to a meal and my first bed in two days. Unfortunately, so that staff do not have to supervise the accommodation after the shop has closed, the business uses a manual lock key box system to ensure unsupervised apartment security in tandem with an electronic combination lock on the door. I came in around 6.30 pm on the only public bus of the day from Auxerre into Chablis. My door passcode worked OK. I was through into the stairwell and the manual key lock box. I couldn’t get the key box passcode to open the box with the key to the apartment. After unsuccessful retries and coaxes I tried the phone numbers I could find to contact the business for help but I couldn’t get through to anybody. What to do next? All I could think of was to go around neighboring businesses, all shutting down for the day, to ask them, with my limited French, if they knew anybody involved with the apartments and the shop who could help me with opening the box to get the key to my booking. Finally, after about an hour and a half, and a lot of help from local village people (thank you!), someone from the business was found to help me with opening the key box. This was too hard! I delayed writing this review because I wasn’t sure if I should share my panic with the key box with you. I don’t want to give a generally bad impression of the apartment which is great value if you can bear it. I would choose the apartment again but I would advise anyone arriving after working hours to get reassurance they will get help if they can’t get past the security to get the apartment key out of the box. Perhaps the box is gone now, or upgraded to something more reliable now, because this trouble should not have happened.

This hotel is very ordinary. The walls are paper-thin, the blanket on the bed was dirty, the toilet was loose, the bed squeaked at slightest movement, lighting was poor and the room was in need of a paint. Only saving grace is its proximity to Chablis. The complementary pen didn’t even work!

I stayed in Chablis for three nights at Les Vignes de Sarah. Because I had my dog I stayed in one of the gites that belong to the Bergerand Hotel. It was fantastic. A really super little place with every amenity apart from WiFi (but you go to the hotel less than a minute’s walk away for that - also the only reason I didn’t give this 5 star). There was a lovely double bed, kitchen area, good shower, little lounge area. Super comfortable. There’s wine in the fridge when you get there - admittedly you have to pay for it but they have a standard AOC and a Premier Cru Chablis - which is just want you want when you arrive. The hotel itself seems nice. Breakfast is served there at 10 Euros each time -bread, cereals, ham, eggs, cheese, fruit and yogurt - she let me have the breakfast for free which was lovely (probably because of the wine I consumed!) You can do a wine tasting in there as well but I didn’t. The Grand Cru vineyards are just a 15 min walk away through a nice park so spent a couple of hours wandering through there. Chablis itself was very quiet, there aren’t many outdoor eating areas and people don’t seem to congregate for lunch as they do in other French towns. It’s pretty but I think one night is enough (I did three). Nice little place called Marguerite which is open until 8pm. On the river serving wine and meat and cheese - just a minute’s walk from the gite. Overall would recommend this as a place to stay if you’re visiting.
