Ventimiglia (Italian: Ventimiglia [ventiˈmiʎʎa], Intemelio: Ventemiglia, French: Vintimille [vɛ̃tiˈmij]) is a city, comune (municipality) and bishopric in Liguria, northern Italy, in the province of Imperia. It is located 130 km (81 mi) northwest of Genoa by rail, and 7 km (4 mi) from the French-Italian border, on the Gulf of Genoa, having a small harbour at the mouth of the Roia River, which divides the town into two parts. Ventimiglia's urban area has a population of 55,000.

It's one of the most important sites from the Prehistoric era in Europe, with its series of caves located in front of a dolomitic limestone wall wich was used by prehistoric men during the Palaeolithic. The area saved fauna remains, handmade stone objects and impressive tombs which have been found thanks to centuries of archaeological excavations. They are now exhibited inside of the two building the Museum is composed of.

Along the ancient Via Julia Augusta visitors can find what has been left of the roman city of "Albintimilium", which means its walls, streets and some publi and private monuments, as the spa and the theatre for instance. The theatre remains are still some of the most remarkably conserved in Northern Italy. In the Antiquarium visitors will also be able ti see and extraordinary roman "Swiss Army knife" made of silver.
