We stayed here for a night as we travelled round the outlander film locations. Such a nice friendly, clean site, well looked after, deer & Highland cattle etc to see there, lovely walks in the forest or for cycling. Enjoyed our stay, staff very friendly and helpful.

We went on one of the volunteer-run trips out to the Avon Aqueduct and back - at £10pp including tea/coffee and biscuits, this is wonderful, relaxing and high value for money trip. The volunteers are knowledgeable and engaging - answered all our questions and pointed out particularly beautiful and interesting sights. There were all ages on our boat (the tiny kids were well behaved, but it is, perhaps, quite a long sit in one place for the under 5s), and I know some of the older travellers appreciated the loo on board!

Blackness Castle is now open and we are delighted to welcome you back. Booking in advance is essential. Find out more and book at restarthistory.scot. Built in the 15th century and massively strengthened in the 16th century as an artillery fortress, Blackness Castle has been a royal castle, prison, armaments depot and film location for Hamlet and the BBC production of Ivanhoe. Blackness Castle is often referred to as ‘the ship that never sailed’ due to its great stone ship appearance. From the castle you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Firth of Forth and Fife.
We visited here to pass some time before our flight home and it was totally worth it. It's not complete, there are steps that can be a bit steep if you aren't so fit and a big section is in thearea that's up a rocky section, they could really do with putting steps in here. That said the views are stunning, the history is fascinating and overall it's well worth a visit.

Enjoyed a 2 hour visit to the owl centre; spent time wandering round looking at the wide variety of amazing owls and speaking to the handlers who are all very knowledgeable, followed by the flying display. Really enjoyed it and would recommend to all!
