Bridport is a market town in Dorset, England, situated approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) inland from the English Channel near the confluence of the small River Brit and its tributary the Asker. Its origins are Saxon and it has a long history as a rope-making centre, though many of its buildings date from the 18th century.

We walked up to Golden Cap from Seatown, it’s about a mile up from the car park in Seatown. A fair climb, but this is the highest point on the south coast! We carried on past Golden Cap and turned right towards St Gabriel’s Wood, and right again back round past Langdon Hill where we did a circuit of the wood and then back down to Seatown. The entire walk was 4.5 miles and took us 1 hour 45 minutes.

Great afternoon at the centre. Went with a friend and our teenage sons for one of the military rifle shooting packages. Top quality facilities and a very friendly bunch of people. Excellent safety, from the COVID precautions through to the range safety. Very well looked after and a very enjoyable afternoon out.

Clocktower Music offer New & Re-Issued Vinyl Records alongside buying & selling pre-loved vinyl records of all types and styles. Based in Bridport's Historic Industrial & Vintage Quarter, it's one of the secret jewels of Dorset. Clocktower Music Bridport is based in an area that stretches back more than 200 years. The area was a key part of the pioneering West Dorset net and rope making industry, providing equipment for Nelson’s fleet as well as South West Coast fishing fleets and later for the UK Lawn Tennis Association and the UK Football Association. Bridport has a thriving outdoor Street Market on Wednesday and Saturday, weather permitting alongside well established Artist Studios, Music Venues. The are well known festivals held during the year including Literary, Film, Food, Beer, Hat and a Torchlight Procession to West Bay. The surrounding area has appeared in many TV Series and Films, including Broadchurch, if the had a Record Shop it would probably be Clocktower Music.
Tucked away behind some antique stores is one of the best collections of vinyl you will ever come across ... lovely warm welcome and a real sense of old style, genuine pleasure for records. Love it!

This was a wonderful find, with the bonus of National Trust Members being able to park for free!! The car park is large and is one both sides of the road. The walk to the beach is a short gentle slope. The shingle is fine and therefore not too difficult for us 50+ people. There is a small, and very informative, National Trust Shop (where you can also join up to become a member), as well as a very busy café overlooking the bay. There are miles to walk along the Jurassic coast and warnings not to sit under overhanging cliffs. We walked up the green hill to the east arriving at a small Pill Box - quite a steep walk should you have breathing difficulties, but manageable with stops. Would certainly recommend for families and people of all ages, maybe take a picnic to avoid the café queues. The toilets were slightly disappointing in that they were smelly and without toilet paper on this particular occasion, but we would certainly want to return to this beach.

I have been coming to Mangerton Mill for many years and have always enjoyed the food, it was a sad moment when retirement came around and last year the Teashop on the site was closed. This year it was a delight to see that it had reopened with new tenants a new menu and longer opening hours starting with breakfast at 09:30 am which is why I went. The tea room has both inside and outside seating some by the side of the Watermill. Inside the teashop has had some minor rearrangement of counter and tables but has lost non of its charm. I was greeted by very friendly staff invited to chose a table and given a menu. The very extensive breakfast menu was a delight to read and catered for all tastes and I really was spoilt for choice, in the end I elected for the full breakfast with toast and lots of tea. Everything was cooked at the time of order so there was a little but worthwhile wait for it to arrive, all produce with the exception of beans was locally sourced and fresh and was a delight to eat proper bacon rather than the see through variety you often find these days. To put it politely on completion I was stuffed! And did not need to eat again until the evening. For what I got it was reasonably priced and well worth having, also the reopening has brought new life into the site which is now busy which is of great benefits to the craft shops on site. Judging from what I have seen it is an excellent tea shop with home cooked fair, Sunday lunch is available but you have to book to guarantee a place, and I understand there is a lunch during the week for the more senior amongst us. All in all a very positive experience and a must visit enjoy the tea rooms, visit the craft shops, have a walk round the lake and/or along the river to the sluice gates. One point of note there is currently no card machine so cash only or bank transfer are your options.
