Just two blocks from the tourists hotspot Placa Republica. Trendy place with sunny and shady lounge backyard. Comfortable and copy, with very friendly service, good simple lunch and great coffee. Even with traditional italian cappuccino which is often difficult to find elsewhere.

When other venues were shut on a Monday night we were pleased a waterfront restaurant-bar was still active. We watched a beautiful moon-rise while enjoying a very pleasant white Sangria. The âspicy squidâ was ordinary but the salmon and sirloin steak dishes with veges and wild rice were both pleasing. We couldnât find any ice creameries on line locally so had the Baileys ice cream which was very nice. A good evening overall.

We found Sr. Bife from a Yelp search. Family owned and run establishment on the river of Viana do Castelo. It was the beginning of the off season, (a wonderful point to consider..) and the restaurant was not busy. The woman, (wish I remembered her name,) matriarch of the establishment I believe, was uber helpful. She brought three different bottles of wine to our table to view over, giving some explanation of each, (English was not her first language, but as I have found in Portugal, this does not defer this wonderful nation to help out their customers.) The wine, as shown, was fantastic. We started off with a sausage appetizer that we shared. She explained after we had eaten that this was blood sausage. I probably would never have ordered it if I had known. It was actually delicious with a rich smokiness. Our main was their surf and turf. Large steak portion, with shrimp atop wonderful creamy mashed potatoes. Highly recommended!

Lovely spot near the water on the plaza. Eat inside or outside. We especially liked the Tasquinha with hamburger and homemade chips (these are potato chips not fries). The bread and sauce are yummy. Also, the chicken lasagna was delicious. They have multiple food and beverage options, something for everyone in your party.

N'O Botequim we have typical Brazilian snacks, meats from South America, craft beers and traditional drinks. A relaxed and familiar atmosphere, very much in the style of the true Brazilian "Boteco"!
We passed by accident looking for a place for dinner. All restaurants nearby seemed to be closed, except this one. And what a great discovery! Most specialities of this Brazilian restaurant are meat dishes, so with the help of an English speaking waitress (and owner of the place?), we tried one (28 euros for 2 persons). It was delicious!By the way, staff is super friendly and very helpful, but doesn't speak English, except the lady who served us.
