Arrived to find we were only ones in on Saturday at 1pm. Soon folks and their dogs arrived but the restaurant was not as full as expected. We chose indian lunch option which was beautifully presented and consisted chicken tikka style in a chapati style bread wrap and an onion bhahji.

Visited the restaurant last month been before and always thoroughly enjoyed. However, this time I found that the overall visit itself wasnât as pleasant. Me and me partner spent over £80 the starters was both beautiful but when the mains arrived firstly my steak was under looked it came out rare when I asked for medium. Secondly nobody came to check back on our meals this meant by the time I got someoneâs attention to ask if my steak could be cooked more when this was eventually done the rest of my food was cold. Thirdly to top first off when the steak was cooked to my likely I found it to be very chewy so I did not eat it. I complained about this when paying for the meals and the girl taking my payment just said âsorry about thatâ. Clearly she wasnât much infuriated me. This has really disappointed me as Iâve been a numerous amount of times before but now I donât know if I will continue to spend my money here again and if I do I definitely would not chose the steak again I have had much nicer different meals here.

The Gate Steakhouse just outside Caerleon serves excellent meat products and the staff are very good, but the ambience just isn't there, the decor / fitting don't seem to have changed in over 20 years

Enjoy award winning dining at our 17th century coaching inn situated in the village of New Inn. Locally sourced produce with the warmest of Welsh welcomes.
I've eaten here several times now, both for Sunday lunch, week day lunch and for evening meals and every time the food and service has been fabulous. Prices are very reasonable for the high quality of food, staff are always friendly and welcoming and the menu changes seasonally, so there's always a good excuse to go back and try something new!

How this place is open is beyond me, after stopping off for a QUICK bite early Saturday was astonished of the lncompetance and utter shambles of the staff so called working there. Ordered 2 meals nothing exotic only ham, egg and chips and sausage and mash told 30 minute wait so like a fool took a seat in what I can only describe as a slum stinking dirty from tables, decor and toilets unmentionable. There is a open fronted kitchen area what a mistake it was a disaster zone, there where dirty scruffy young boys carrying food to tables then prepairing food in the kitchen. As for our meal after waiting one and a half hours I finally cracked went to bar asking for my money back, young girl said I'll find out what's happening only to come back and tell me there is no mash, where they ever going to tell me. First thing Monday morning I contacted local council hygiene department and expressed my concern gave a statement and photos. This place had been boarded up for a number of years, the best thing is to put shutters back on, and look for new career. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Excellent! The two staff were really helpful and very friendly so made for a lovely family lunch. They were very accommodating and as we were pre-ordering allowed items from the dinner menu instead of just the lunch menu.I had not realised there was a garden at the rear so will remember for another dayThank you so much for making a special day a real celebration.

We're open all day every day from 12 noon, serving a full range of real ales, ciders, continental lagers, spirits and wines. We serve the finest Lavazza fresh bean coffee too. Our restaurant is open Monday to Sunday serving lunch between 12pm and 2.30pm (
Super friendly owners and staff who quickly rectified an issue with our food. Nice cider selection. Would only add that the Kievs need more garlic but are otherwise good quality. Gourmet Society acceptance is also appreciated on a Saturday. Would return but perhaps would have the steak if available, unlike on our visit.
