Premium dining and pub set in the heart of beautiful Cheshire countryside. Freshly cooked food, cask ales and continental lagers. Part of the Parogon Pub Group.
Last time we ate here it was pre-renovation and it was awful. An amazing change has taken place and the decor was amazing. On arrival we had drinks in the bar area. Disappointingly for the ladies, the house champagne has changed to a rather unpleasant sweet one so they chose a white wine and a Prosecco. Our table was in the conservatory extension which we did find rather noisy. I ordered fish and chips which I have to say was a little disappointing. The huge piece of moist fish was encased in batter which in parts was crisp and other parts oily and soggy. I asked for extra pea purée as I didnât want chips but the extra portion was quite small and quite liquid. The beef en croute was very good as was the chicken kebab. The staff were lovely and helpful, nothing too much trouble. We were told the next day that we should have gone to the Swan with 2 necks, the sister pub. Perhaps next time but we did enjoy the whole experience of the Boars Head.

Come and relax at the Claret Jug at Wychwood Park. Have a chat over a beer after a great round of Golf, or sit down for some wholesome home cooked food with family and friends, surrounded by a warm comfortable setting and smiley, personable staff who are
We visited the claret on the 23rd July arrived at 6.20pm asked if they were still serving food yes they was . Ordered fish and chips and burger and chips,we were the only ones eating, fairly quite, plus ordered a bottle of wine, Sat down 7.00pm food not arrived, 7.20pm still waiting so I decided to approach the bar staff. He knew straight away and apologised for the delay( not sure why still) I got the impression it was the bar staff cooking the meal? Food well least said about it we were hungry and just thought we had waited far to long. Sorry will not go again, bottle of wine over £25.00 food not good. Should have gone to the White Lion..Would not recommend.

Dined on a Friday evening. Very nice place & food was delicious. Lovely menu, had some difficulty choosing. Fillet of Beef cooked to perfection (medium/rare) & beautifully presented. Chicken main with the citrus fruits was unusual but so tasty. Everything freshly cooked & hot. Service with a smile. We were just passing through but would dine here again in a flash.

On 9th January Jackie & Kevin finally left The White Lion. The reins were handed over to Jackie Stubbs, who has worked at The White Lion since 2005, so knows the place and the regulars inside out. We of course wish her every success. Beautiful country pub
Booked a large table for my mums 50th birthday and were given almost the whole conservatory, with no need for deposit! We were able to dress the room prior & provided a list of mains which were prepared and came our all together. Amazing considering it was all fresh, home-cooked food. Loved it!
