Top 7 Fusion food in St. Croix, Caribbean

Reviews on Fusion food in St. Croix, Caribbean. Isn’t it romantic? The Caribbean island of St. Croix is practically the backdrop of a Hollywood love story. White sand beaches and lush rainforests set the scene for tropical bliss. Take in the historic small town charm of Christiansted and Frederiksted, sip your way through a spirited tour of the Cruzan Rum Distillery or explore the ruins of a sugar plantation. And the diving…oh, the diving. Think shipwrecks, think vibrant ocean life, think endless underwater possibilities.

Like clockwork, hubby and I migrate to St. Croix at the end of May for 9 days to celebrate our anniversary and reconnect with our island "home". Last year for our 20th, we were fortunate enough to arrange an amazing 3-course dinner with cocktail pairings featuring Cruzan Blackstrap Rum at balter. I reached out to Patrick, owner and GM of balter, again this year and he graciously agreed to do it again for us! Unfortunately, Patrick was off island during our visit, but the Assistant GM, Dave, knew just who we were and warmly welcomed us. Alex started us off with a Sazerac at the bar, and she could not have been more gracious and friendly as we savored our cocktail and munched on delicious house made popcorn. Nothing compares to a great Sazerac, and Alex brought this classic drink to the islands with a sorrel infused ice ball. We enjoyed it so much, we had to have another... Soon enough, it was time to sit down for our special dinner, marked by a lovely "Happy 21st Anniversary" placard on the same table we sat at last year. Yes, they even remembered that!! I believe our server's name was Angela, but I could be wrong. Apologies if I'm mistaken, but she was very kind and attentive and guided us perfectly through our meal. "Our" table is right next to the open kitchen, so we were able to watch Chef Brian (and another Chef whose name I unfortunately didn't get) as he cooked and smell the tantalizing aromas of our meal as the courses were prepared. Alex created a drink just for us to go with our meal that featured Blackstrap and Captain Morgan, and it was DELICIOUS. The tropical flavors paired wonderfully with our first dish...perfectly, and I do mean PERFECTLY cooked scallops with smoked fish and hints of Blackstrap. While we didn't want to take the last bite, we knew more deliciousness was on the horizon. Our second course was a juicy, smoked beef brisket over mashed potatoes, drizzled with Blackstrap gravy. UN...BE...LIEVABLE! Another of our special cocktails arrived just as we were presented with creamy Blackstrap infused ice cream and a decadent slice of chocolate cake. Chef Brian even came out to toast us with a shot of Blackstrap! VERY well-deserved after conceiving of and preparing such an unforgettable meal. On balter's website, Patrick is quoted saying "It’s the warmth of the staff that makes balter special." That statement could not be more true, and we can't say enough how much we appreciate the efforts of every team member. The care they feel for their guests is palpable and elevates what could be just another amazing meal into a one of a kind and truly memorable experience. Thank you so much, and we can't wait to see you all next year!!We love the opportunity to help make your 21st Anniversary so special! It'll only keep getting bette every year after! Congratulations you two! You two are an inspiration for love! Thanks so much of the great review! We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Easy to find once you find Mahagony Road. We did not eat there, but went for the bread and chocolate. The bread was great and easily worth the price. The chocolate was exceptional - very intense flavor. But, just a little expensive. No, let me amend that. Really expensive for the little bitty "bar" that you get ($10 for 2 oz.). Go and support a local enterprise with a great product, just don't expect a chocolate bargain.

I was here with family on a Thursday night before my Friday departure from a 5-day stint at St. Croix. I was not disappointed. The food and drink menu selection was very good, but to me, it was the staff and the the service which impressed me mostly - they simply just care that the customer has the best time. Our waiter took the time to answer all our questions and even offered samples of what we were not sure of. Too bad we were not in high dining mood when we first got to St. Croix - who ever is? However, I highly recommended. Reservation not required, but I'd recommend. Parking is scarce, so arrive on time.
