While taking a time out in Nong Khai, we look for out of the way places to explore. To our luck trip adviser pointed us to the right place. Easy to find using google maps, short drive from the river walk. Arriving from the dirt road you see the naturally enhanced landscape, empeckable views of a natural pond. Shaded areas with cosey sitting areas. Lek the Host, 0wner and distiller greeted us with a smile. First offering was a great cup of freashly ground bean coffee. Next came the famous Issan Rum, we were not disappointed. With the friendly company of another guest from France (living in Thailand 21 years) the mid-morning was a treat. Highly Recommend a visit on your trip to Nong Khai.

My wife and I packed our motorcycle for a trip to Wat Pha Tak Suea and the Skywalk. The tempel has a wonderful view over Mekong, over to Laos. I’m terrified of height but I managed to walk the Skywalk, and it felt very safe. The view is spectacular. Coming by motorcycles, the road up to the temple is also great. Lots of up and down, through winding turns. After the temple we drove in to Nong Khai for the night.

The Nong-Khai city hall must have paid a lot to make the new promenade along the banks of the Mekhong river beautiful decorated with hundreds of green and golden "Dragon Lamposts" and intricate bricklaying so you can sit there in the evening restaurant's and enjoy the sundown over the Friendship bridge, in a few months the whole place will host the Mekong river race for very fast speedboats and water scooters. SOOOO COOL.

Beautiful temple where you can see reclining Buddha statue, and participate in a holy religious ceremony. Very interesting to see the architecture. The temple is located in a big area in front of Grand Palace. To reach this temple, you need to take BTS to Saphan Taksin station, and continue with hop hop boat (first buy the ticket of THB 60.00 per way) to reach Wat Arun. From Wat Arun, you need to buy another boat ticket of THB 4.00. The entrance fee to this temple is THB 200.00.

You need to but a bus ticket to cross the bridge. Grab your passport with double check in from THAI to LAOS. The bus will wait for you until you got a stamp.
