Bowness-on-Windermere is a town in South Lakeland, Cumbria, England. Due to its position on the banks of Windermere, the town has become a tourist honeypot. Although their mutual growth has caused them to become one large settlement, the town is distinct from the town of Windermere as the two still have distinguishable town centres. Historically part of Westmorland, in 2012, Bowness was one of the official stop off points for the Olympic torch before it made its way to the Olympic Games opening ceremony.

Visited once again this great pub, recently reopened. Sunday ploughman’s fab. Staff friendly and very helpful, they are running the pub very safely and once again I would heartily recommend

We visited The Albert on a weekend away in the Lakes. Everything about our visit was positive. Beautiful place, best Sunday roast EVER, lovely staff. We had such a lovely afternoon there and cannot thank them enough. Can’t wait to go back.

A visit to St Martin's Church is a most enjoyable experience and the stained glass windows are a treat to see. It is situated along a main street in lovely Bowness and appears to be very well looked after. Our visit was mid-week when we spent about ten minutes of prayer and reflection in one of the rear pews before admiring the Church itself. We really enjoyed the visit and recommend.

These are the shops I like to see thriving and with a quality product along with friendly service, Roly's is a winner. You can actually see the quality of the product for yourself, get a selection of different fudges and take your time doing it. As it happens I mostly enjoy home made fudge in it's thick creamy form. Roly's fudge is the crumbly, sugary type but delicious all the same. A great addition to the excess of another fantastic holiday in the Lakes.
