En route and popped into this charming town and discovered this great little restaurant. Staff excellent, food good and real old French charm sadly missing these days! Great church and chateau and riverside views. Parking easy in square but pop in at Carrefour Express to get parking disc ....you can use throughout France ...thank you to a local woman who gave us the advice!

Called in here as it was the first place we spotted. Staff are friendly though with limited English. We tried a salad, smoked salmon and the sauerkraut, all were filling and flavourful. Decent size terrace for the good weather as well, and prices fair for what's on offer.

Visiting France frequently last months I've got spoiled by great food wherever I have been dining or lunching. Whether it was fancy Paris or Lyon reastaurant or small village bistro - I'm expecting high quality and tasty food now. This place, unfortunately, didn't keep the pace with those previous experiences. The food was just avarage and the apple tart as a desert was just a joke from customer - a piece od dry, flat, tasteless french dough (felt like recently unfrozen) with some apple slices on it. My daughter made much better when she was 7.One can say taht you cannot expect too much when being on a set menu agreed on a budget by a group organizer. Still the food could be decent but it was painfully avarage in taste. Starters could still be promissing but each next was only worse.Extra plus for the gorgeous location though. Just on the river side, among rich greenery. A Pretty Shore as the name of restaurant promises. And that's the only promise that was been kept this evening...unfortunately.

I've been on an organized dinner with set menu - the circumstances that sometimes "tempt" the restaurants to go an easy way. Not the case here thank Goodness. Every dish was delicious from starters to desserts, wine well selected and service attentive. Add to it the nice interior with lovely art accents (reminding me of Frida Khalo) and you have nice evening guaranteed.

With family living in Mayenne, we visit fairly regularly and have eaten here twice now, the last time just two nights ago.The menu offers quite a selection of pizzas, with slightly quirky names. Two of us wanted a vegetarian choice and opted for the "Fitness". All of our pizzas were of the thin and crispy variety and were very tasty. The side salads we ordered to accompany them were just a few leaves of lettuce with vinaigrette and were a little underwhelming. There's a small wine and beer selection and the beer I chose wasn't available, but they offered me a very drinkable Leffe instead. Good to see wine sold by the glass, so you don't have to commit to whole bottle.Even fairly early on a Wednesday evening, the place was almost full, so it's probably wise to book in advance. Service was admirably quick, attentive and friendly.Overall, this was an enjoyable meal and we'll certainly be back.Expect to pay around 20⬠per person for pizza, side salad and a couple of drinks.

Restaurant With A View Of La Riviere "mayenne", Contemporain Style, Lot Of Light Coming Throught The Windows, Table That Preserve Intimity (space Between Table), Private Bar With Canapé And A Whisky Carte
This lovely hotel with its private, gated, car park in the centre of Mayenne, offers ideal accommodation. Comfortable rooms and nice bathrooms, quiet (despite the hotel's position on a town crossroads), with a contemporary lounge bar and attractive conservatory dining room. The food was marvellous: delectable terrine (the chef's mother's recipe), lieu (pollock, similar to hake, but more delicately flavoured), beautifully presented and absolutely wonderful, and delicious desserts. The chef helped us choose personally, translating to English anything we didn't understand. The wine list was phenomenal - a book! We chose a modestly priced Touraine wine, but you could really splash out here.Recommended, especially for the food - but if you want to dine, whether staying here or not, you must book.

Lunch with friends - perfect. Although literally on the N12 just outside of Mayenne, this is a small, well decorated and comfortable restaurant with an excellent kitchen, recognised chef (Michelin one star) and professional, friendly staff. Our waitress, without being asked, introduced all the dishes in English. The main menu is available on the website in advance.Very reasonably priced - about 250 Euro for entrees, mains and desserts, 4 aperos, a bottle of wine and couple of extra glasses.Definitely recommended.
