Reviews on European food in London, Ontario, Canada. You’ll see double-decker buses and even the River Thames, but while London, Ontario, has clearly been inspired by its British namesake, this is a distinctly Canadian destination. Attractions like Fanshawe Pioneer Village, Banting House and Eldon House will captivate history buffs. Or indulge your, shall we say, slightly less cerebral side with a tour of the Labatt Brewery.

We come to this family run Hungarian restaurant fairly often because we get delicious food at good value. Our favourite meal is the Aranka Platter. Pork Schnitzel, chicken breast fillets and smokey saucey tender ribs are served up on a wooden platter with fries, rice, fresh veggies and a side of paprikish sauce. We ask to substitute spaetzle (pinched pasta) for rice and German red cabbage for veggies and they are happy to oblige. This huge meal is $39 for 2 and we have leftovers for another day! Another Hungarian restaurant in town has roughly the same for a LOT more money Aranka has Hungarian wine by the 1/2 liter which matches this meal well. Service is friendly, efficient and accommodating. They offer specials Tues.to Thurs. for $12! And they are open for breakfast on the weekend. Eating in a quiet rural area with a view of fields is also a treat.

I noticed that this restaurant had 41/2 stars, so went for breakfast, very limited menu, expecting more of the potatoe pancakes, we did get our regular breakfast eats like bacon, that was greasy, sausages and eggs. For rye bread you have to pay a dollar more. We found it very expensive, It was pretty clean, bathroom could have been better. The place need a Reno on it. It looks so old.and run down. Our meal cost us $39.00. That was with tip and tax. For two people.

Marienbad Restaurant and Chaucer's Pub -- A Taste of Europe since 1974.
We were lucky enough to get in on their last Murder Mystery Dinner theatre June 21st with the "Murder for Hire" troupe. The meal was amazing and very generous (chicken breast, pork cutlet, veggies and potato fingers, salad and desert), they also offered a vegan dish (stir fry) that looked tasty. The actors were a tonne of fun and they dined with us allowing us to ask questions of the plot. They start back up again in the fall and I would highly recommend it to everyone!

This place claims to be "London's Oldest Restaurant" and it reminds me of other really good ethnic restaurants, like Mader's in Milwaukee. Food is great, portion sizes are substantial. Service was by a very knowledgable young lady, Julie, who was informative, and very helpful. Wife ordered a bowl of the Cabbage soup, which was fantastic!. I had the $30 (Canadian) dinner, with the beef stroganoff, weiner schnitzel, and sausage, which was outstanding. They add the cabbage salad (similar to a cole slaw, but without the mayo), and the spatial. Great stuff, reasonably priced! I couldn't finish it all. For desert, I ordered the poppy seed roll, which was not sweet, but very flavorful. Great place, I'd go again and again!

Treat yourself to an unforgettable culinary experience as you dine in style at the Idlewyld restaurant, surrounded by the elegance of our Victorian mansion. Our 70-seat dining room offers a locally-inspired menu of contemporary and traditional favourites
First off, the dining room is quite lovely. The tables are decently spaced and it is fairly quiet due to ample cloth coverings and tablecloths. The service is friendly and decent. We did not find the food as good as on previous visits. Some appetizers like the escargot and the scallops were excellent. The Caesar salad was OK but not great. All the beef mains were overcooked and thus not so not great. The seafood linguini was outstanding. The wine list is not large but there is something for every taste. So a mixed bag overall. On the positive side, I mixed up the dates for our reservation but they handled our group without blinking and eye.Thank you for taking the time to review the Idlewyld Inn Restaurant. We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed ambiance of the restaurant and overall service. I will review your comments about the food quality with the Chef and his team. We hope to see you again in the future.

Homemade authentic Polish cooking, cooked from scratch, well done. Tried pierogies, crepes, borsht, potato pancakes with goulash, cabbage rolls. We were a group of 4 which shared, and I went back a few days later for lunch. I am from out of town, but will be back on my next visit to London. I was brought up on this type of food, and have been making pierogies for many years, really liked hers, as well as everything else

Davids is an institution in London and many regard it as one of the best restaurants in Southern Ontario. The food is always first class and yet the prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is casual yet elegant and always an interesting selection of wine. You can't go wrong.
