Sukhumi or Sokhumi (Abkhazian: Аҟәа, Aqwa; Georgian: სოხუმი, [sɔxumi] ( listen); Russian: Сухум(и), Sukhum(i)) is a city on the Black Sea coast. It is the capital of the breakaway Republic of Abkhazia which has controlled it since the 1992-93 war in Abkhazia, although most of the international community considers it legally part of Georgia.

I went here on the recommendation of another travel website, and it was a very nice experience. While it doesn't seem to have set operating hours, it is open generally for lunch and dinner, and perhaps late into the evening. English is unfortunately not spoken here, and my Russian just wasn't doing the trick so Lika called a friend of hers who spoke English and he explained some of the menu items to me. I had some traditional thick chicken soup and it was scrumptious. If you are not a fan of pepper you may not like the food, but for me it was not overkill, it seemed just right. After my meal, Lika's English-speaking friend showed up and I sat down with the group and they invited me for some vodka and discussion. With my limited Russian and English "translator" standing by I had no problem communicating and really enjoyed the experience. I recommend this place to anyone visiting the region who wants an authentic Abkhaz experience.
Abkhazia, Georgia Food Guide: 3 Seafood food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Sukhumi
This was one of the more expensive places I ate in whilst visiting Abkhazia. But unfortunately I didn't think the food was anything spectacular - there are definitely better places to try. The location is good though so that helps to make up for the mediocre food.

The entrance to the restaurant is located on the side of the Embankment of the Mahajirs. Folkloric motifs prevail in the interior decoration, Abkhaz arms on the walls, waitresses in the national dress. The menu is widely represented national cuisine: homi
If you're in Abkhazia, you should really come here at least once and try some authentic Abkhazian Cuisine in a traditional setting. Waitress will wear national costume and adorning the walls will be replicas of ancient Abkhaz weapons and such. I vaguely recall their being an English translation under some of the dishes- but it didn't mean much- I still didn't know what I was ordering- good to know at least a few main meats and vegetables in Russian so you get the main idea. I ordered a great spicy chicken dish and some national cheesy corn porridge- which was also good- but doesn't go so well with the spicy chicken. Prices for meat dishes are listed per 100gms- the waitor/waitress may not tell you until you get the bill- so it's worth asking.

Having struggled for 3 days in Abkhazia with no English menus I was quite happy to find this restaurant which is the only one I saw with the menu in English. No English spoken, but pointing to the English menu they were able to work out what was wanted. Food quality was decent and a good selection of local wines. Prices a bit higher than elsewhere, but still very reasonable by international standards. The smoking inside the restaurant was a little unpleasant.

we arrived on Easter day just as they were closing, but they were still happy to prepare a couple of khachapuri and a bottle of wine for us. They were huge and delicious, and we went back the next day. Even their main courses (tried the beef stroganof) were meant for sharing, and overall a nice meal. Only caution is there is no English on the menus, and staff speak no English as well. Be prepared to speak Russian or Abkhaz...or get what the staff recommends which will likely be khachapuri (which they call "lodichkas" - or boats)
