Top 7 Distillery Tours in Byron Bay, New South Wales

February 4, 2022 Weston Hennigan

Byron Bay's beaches are dotted with lighthouses and surrounded by bottlenose dolphins, rays, whales and sea turtles. This former New South Wales whaling station turned tourist town is still strongly influenced by its recent bohemian past, when hippie lifestyles flourished. Bongos and didgeridoos sound in parks, sarongs and dreadlocks are common, and vegetarian restaurants abound. Give in to the casual vibe and stroll between beaches and bars for a low-key and happy day.

What A Day Byron Bay provided us with such a fun afternoon filled with memories we will never forget. We went to two breweries and one distillery and each destination was incredible. The driver was full of knowledge and happy to answer any questions we had along the way. It is a very well run service set amongst picturesque Byron Bay. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough and I will definitely be booking again. Do yourself a favour and book in! You won’t regret it.

I booked a tour through behind the barrel for my partners birthday and it was a great experience! We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and Jarryd was knowledgeable of all the beverages and knew how to show us a good time, especially with the 1%ers like letting us use the aux cord for the drive! Haha - definitely recommending to all our friends.

Brookie’s Byron Dry Gin is produced at our farm distillery (Cape Byron Distillery) in the hinterland of Byron Bay. We're only open for tours by appointment, so yours will be a special experience. The distillery is set in the heart of our macadamia farm surrounded by sub-tropical rainforest. On arrival, you will be welcomed with a refreshing Brookie's Gin & tonic as we take you on a journey through the story of Cape Byron Distillery, the Brook family farm and the art of distillation. A guided tour through the sub-tropical rainforest is a magical experience; to smell, see and touch the botanicals that are used in the gin, learn the history of the Big Scrub Rainforest and fall in love with this special place. On return to the distillery for a gin tasting and relax on the verandah overlooking our farm, watch the birds and enjoy the view. Our tours run Friday afternoons, Saturdays and Sundays.
