The taste is authentic, meats are grilled outdoors, I had asada and pastor, the asada was good and the pastor was tasty and not greasy. lots of condiments and salsas very fresh, and service so fast I sat down popped the top on my soda and my food came! If I had one recommendation it would be to put a screen door on the back door to the kitchen to control the flies.

Good, consistent food, with good service. If you like diners, you will love the Black Bear. Nothing fancy, that is for sure, but won't go away hungry. Great variety of "down home" dishes from meat loaf to roast turkey. Their breakfast is very good... all the favorites.

Good find downtown Gilroy that serves Japanese, Hawaiian and American styled meals that are huge and relatively inexpensive. Early bird special 7 to 9 am is cheap and filling. Many meals featured on walls outside. Seating looks like a converted coffee shop with a old bar establishment. Hawaiian impressions throughout including the piped music. Scott's jumbo omelet and scrambles features spam, chasu and kamaboko (fish cakes) in their island recipes. Service good. Plenty of parking close.

My wife and I were passing through Gilroy yesterday on our way to Paso Robles. We were hungry, got off US Hwy 101 at the Central of Town exit. The first place we found was Denny's. The exterior was a but weathered and there was a waiting list so we sat at the counter. Our server was very pleasant and very helpful. I have a recently diagnosed gluten allergy and she helped identify GF items on the menu including a gluten free English muffin. The food was prepared quickly and perfectly cooked. The food and staff left us with a very good impression of Denny's.

Classic restaurant very popular with locals and truckers, standard american fare at good prices, but very crowded because of it's popularity. Sandy (the owner) has been a waitress at a couple of Gilroy restaurants including Jeffery's. But Jeffery's closed and she bought this restaurant. Since everyone in town knows her, they flock to the restaurant. Sundays are quite busy, but they manage to keep the customer flowing in and out.

Another home run from Black Bear! We have been to many, and they are all great so far! This one is smaller, but just as good. The place is clean, including the restrooms, and the staff is really friendly! The food is great, and the portions huge! Lots of parking too!

We chose ODâs from great ratings on a map app, and we were not disappointed. I had the short stack (two huge pancakes) and was served warmed syrup (awesome!). My family had the Rosebud (eggs, hash browns, with a biscuit and gravy all together) and they said it was amazing. Service was great and prices very reasonable.
