Went to lunch on a Friday afternoon around 2pm. They have an old fashioned diner car and a rustic dining room. Diner car was small, about 6 booths on one side and a counter on the other side. We got the last open booth. Service was fast and friendly. I got the 1/2 lb bacon cheeseburger. A handmade handful. Cooked perfectly to order, with crispy bacon and a fresh crusty bun. My friend got the haddock sandwich. Nice size piece of fish, and crispy not greasy. Portions were good-sized and we both took some home. Canât wait to go back and try their breakfast.
This is the only place in town where the cook actually knows how to make scrambled eggs, "European" style, that is slightly loose and moist. He does this consistantly. Try the Ham, egg and cheese sandwich on a bulkie for breakfast and you will find it to be delicious and filling.

Omelette is pillow style and chock full of 3 meats and cheese. The marbled rye toast was great as were the home fries. The waitress was very friendly courteous and prompt. The place has a lot of character as do the customers of Southbridge.
The Red Baron the name of the new restaurant at the diner / patio at Southbridge Airport. Credit cards eventually / just cash for now. Breakfast and lunch now - open for dinner eventually. Located just off the runway with a front-row-seat for any planes landing or taking off, this location is always degrees cooler than the downtown area. An expert chowder maker, seasoned kitchen and waitstaff , and local management with years of experience have this diner running like it has been open forever. Every-single-thing we ordered was delicious. Breakfast looks intriguing - we'll be back!

I get together with friends every sunday morning and go here for breakfast after church Today I had two eggs with sourdough toast and substituted tomato slices for the home fries. Everything was cooked perfectly and the staff was great. It was a real treat. At this place they serve tomato slices, asparagus and spinach as a side at breakfast.

We more or less stumbled on Carl's on the way to somewhere else in Oxford. When we pulled into the parking space in front of it, I was a bit skeptical of what we would find. But that skepticism was quickly and decisively dispelled as we approached the entrance. You don't turn a knob, you don't push or pull the wooden door, you slide it. This, I thought, is a cool feature, but it only hints at what awaits you when you step inside. This diner is so authentic it deserves not only to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places but also designated a National Treasure. Everything about it proclaims, "here you will find the real deal." The counter is any Diner's lodestar, and the counter here assures you that you've reached your destination. We got to Carl's near closing time, but there were still a few diners at the counter -- all no muss, no fuss, dyed-in-the-wool locals, dining and chatting as only locals do. The atmosphere was happy and friendly. The staff, if anything, was friendlier. I ordered a kielbasa sandwich, chicken noodle soup, and iced tea. The soup and tea were delicious, but the sandwich was mind-bogglingly epic -- enough for three sandwiches anywhere else. It came with homefries that were from another time, another place. They were simply outstanding. It's been at least 30 years since I've had homefries that good. I never expected to have anthing like them ever again. Now I know where to find them, and, believe me, I'll be back, God willing. The prices are beyond reasonable. They don't stint on quality, they don't stint on service, and they definitely don't stint on satisfaction. The past has never tasted so good.

Yes, it looks run down or even abandoned from the outside (except for the good number of cars in the parking lot.) Don't be put off by that at all. Amazing original features of diner itself are complimented by pleasant waitresses- quick greeting and coffee service while we waited just a few minutes for next seats. We chose to sit at the counter, which was awesome because we could watch everything being cooked in front of us. I had mashed omelet- bacon, cheese and smashed potatoes, served w/ side of sour cream. HUGE. And delicious. Food prepped and served in maybe 10 minutes- with every seat taken. Boyfriend got sausage, biscuits and gravy. Great flavor and done right. Both also had home fries and enjoyed all. Plenty of food and a final bill just over $20. We'll be back!!
