Its construction, completed after 1300 in the Gothic style, recalls the status of Perpignan as economic, political and cultural center of the medieval Mediterranean.

An obvious historic site. Sort of a self guided tour. It is located high up and as a result you get some great view of the city of Perpignan. We visited in the winter and it was breezy and quite cool, but had a great time walking about the property. As I mentioned it is a great vista point.

L'Archipel est une scène nationale depuis juin 2012, un label accordé par le ministère de la Culture et de la Communication à des théâtres publics français, il n’y en a aujourd’hui que 70 en France. Son objectif est d'être un lieu de production et de diffusion de la création contemporaine dans le domaine du spectacle vivant. L'Archipel est un Établissement Public de Coopération Culturelle depuis le 1er janvier 2011 et regroupe un archipel de salles sur la ville de Perpignan: Elmediator et les deux de l'Archipel : le Grenat et le Carré.
