Things to do in San Ramon
We have been coming to Orient Express for about 10 years. It's a small restaurant that is mainly for takeout except for the 2 tables inside and a few tables outside. The food is displayed on a steam table. Everything is delicious, but our favorite is the salt&pepper chicken, lemon chicken, tofu chicken, and beef broccoli. Prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. Great customer interaction and service.

Restaurant had a very nice atmosphere. Hard to tell there is a restaurant there unless you are traveling from the South - no signs to notice coming from the North. Food tasted good - Egg rolls crispy and food was hot. Portions were a bit small, so the price did not justify the small portions. Rice came with the entree, which was nice, but the price you pay, you are paying for the rice. Waitress was also doing bar duty, so we had to wait for a while to get our check as we wanted to leave. There were not too many people there for a Saturday lunch. Price is a bit expensive, in my opinion. Not sure if I would go again unless I have some money to burn.

Just discovered the Hula Wok.We got a couple quick lunches to go, and I like their style!. We ordered to go, but they also have ample seating. They offer lots of Hawaiian and Chinese favorites, plus BBQ beef, chicken, pork, ribs and even seafood. My GF ordered the BBQ beef bowl, served with steamed vegetables on a bed of white rice, which she really enjoyed. I had tbe BBQ beef saimin, (noodles, onions and beef in broth), which was tasty and absolutely perfect for a cold Winter's day! I will be back. Next time I want to try their Loco Moco.

Had been told about this place and wasn't expecting a whole lot compared to our usual Chinese haunts. Well we were very surprised and appreciative of the food we ordered. First of all the premises are light-years ahead of what you would typically experience from an Oakland Chinatown eatery. Peking Delight was bright and airy with great natural light from outside plus very good lighting inside when it darkens outdoors. The restaurant is compact with mostly tables designed for 4 people, though they can be reconfigured plus 2 round tables for 10, perhaps 12 people. I will say they keep the place chilly, probably too chilly, necessitating a sweater or jacket. We went with the 3-dish for $23.95 plus another dish from that 50-option menu for $7.95. This includes soup but does not include rice. The pricing is more than competitive with the place we like in Oakland Chinatown though Peking Delight does not have as many options overall but they also don't have up-charging on some dishes as Chinatown does. Okay let's get to the food. We opted for the Hot & Sour soup which was served in a large bowl that was a lot more than the 4 of us could drink (considering food was on the way) plus the soup was substantial and filled with excellent ingredients. The Rock Cod w/ Black Bean Sauce was delicious. The Peking Style Spareribs are thin and not overburdened with sauce so it was easy to eat and enjoy. The Beef w/ Broccoli was fine with the protein being tender and the veggies cooked but still providing some resistance. The extra dish we ordered was an exquisite Salted Fish w/ Chicken Fried Rice that is an acquired taste for some people. For the price, as steamed rice is not included, it is better to order another rice dish that one can try. All of the servings sizes were more than adequate and this type of meal is best enjoyed in the restaurant versus take-out. The food came out of the kitchen fast and hot. The service was definitely above what you would get in Chinatown. We also noticed that most of the diners were Chinese, another good sign. It is a ways for us to get here but we will definitely be back to try some of the other 46 options.

Despite white table cloths, this is not a fancy restaurant. The decorations on the wall look cheap. Yet the food was great and the price was very reasonable. Dishes are under $10. At this price you won't find gourmet food, just basic Cantonese dishes that you find in almost all reasonable Cantonese restaurants, but the dishes were well prepared and tasty. Service was good and prompt too. A great place for cheap eats.

According to my Cali sister, the Pleasant Hill 3 brothers had now gone downhill but the San Ramon is the worthy one. Our reservation was made as the restaurant is small and very popular. We still arrived to chaos and pandemonium with wall to wall diners and takeouters. It was an amazement that the kitchen could keep up although the serving pace was at a slow tempo. The food was good, flavourful at a reasonable price and the services were not diminished bt the upheaval of the place.

Love how fresh everything tastes at this place. Searched for quite some time before I found this little gem. LOVE the free delivery as well. Staff is courteous and efficient (at least at dinner time). I honestly think this is the BEST Chinese Food in the area and I've tried many!
