Reviews on Cajun & Creole food in Monroe, Louisiana, United States. Monroe (historically French: Poste-du-Ouachita) is the eighth-largest city in the U.S. state of Louisiana. It is the parish seat of Ouachita Parish. In the official 2010 census, Monroe had a population of 48,815. The municipal population declined by 8.1 percent over the past decade; it was 53,107 in the 2000 census. After a recheck in 2012, the Census Bureau changed the 2010 population from 48,815 to 49,147. Mayor Jamie Mayo, however, maintains that the Monroe population is more than 50,000 and indicated that he will pursue a continued challenge to the count.

Our destination restaurant while travelling through Monroe. Excellent service with food to match. Weâve tried different offering on each visit and all apps, mains and sides are of a level that most restaurants canât usually sustain. This time we had great roasted oysters, couldnât pass up the duck fat fries again, wedge salad (wifeâs favorite anywhere), Campfire Redfish and another fish special. Itâs difficult to cook fish correctly, especially different ones being delivered at the same time, but our entrees were perfect. That said, management has to do something about the menâs bathroom. When we asked our server about the water seeping down the wall, a yellow wet floor marker that blocked one sink, she remarked that it had been like that for some time. Unacceptable for any establishment and especially for one at this price point. Obviously, Monroeâs health inspectors havenât been around in a while.

This is my husband's favorite restaurant in Monroe, LA. We stopped there on a stormy evening, after a long day of driving. We enjoyed their friendly service, the colorful atmosphere, and delicious seafood. We both had shrimp dishes which were wonderful. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Traveling from Alabama to Dallas we stopped in Monroe for some Cajun food. This certainly satisfied our desires and our stomachs! We sat outside overlooking the river. This is no fancy place, just good food, and obviously filled with locals. Go there for the real thing! Donât forget the fried crawfish tails appetizer.....
